Analisamos a construção do mercado de fundos do país, suas origens e ligações com o Estado brasileiro, com a governança corporativa, com a responsabilidade social e ambiental e qual o nível de informações que os indivíduos têm sobre os fundos éticos. Optamos pela abordagem da Sociologia Econômica, em especial autores como Weber, Bourdieu, Polanyi e por outros autores da Sociologia Política e da Antropologia que enxergam os mercados como construções sociais, dotados de atores que agem numa arena social influenciada por poder, capitais simbólicos e interesses. Por fim, concluímos que os bancos atuando com fundos éticos buscam legitimar sua atuação perante a sociedade, sendo esses produtos uma possível fonte de aperfeiçoamento social no longo prazo.
This work treats about the growing of ethical investment funds in Brazil, with emphasis in the ABN AMRO Real Bank´s fund called Ethical and in the Itaú Excelência Social fund. We analyzed the fund market history in Brazil, its connections with the Brazilian State, with the corporate governance and with the social and environmental responsibility. We also investigated the level of information that individuals have about ethical funds. We chose the economic sociology approach, mainly authors like Weber, Bourdieu, Polanyi as well as others from political sociology and anthropology. These authors see the market as social constructions, which have actors who take action in a social arena influenced by power, symbolic capitals and interests. We concluded that the banks work with ethical funds in order to try to legitimate its acts to society, being these products one possible source of social improvement in the long term.
