Elencamos as características principais da obra sob o ponto de vista literário e identificamos as zonas de risco para o aparecimento de deformações e as soluções encontradas, com foco na figura de linguagem understatement. Finalizando nossa análise, apontamos os aspectos religiosos que o autor enaltece em sua biografada e sua família.
This dissertation presents the commented translation of the first three chapters of the biography Madame de Staël. A study of her Life and Times written by Abel Stevens. The theoretical reflection of Felipe Pena, Sergio Boas Vilas and Pierre Bourdieu on biography and of Schleiermacher and Antoine Berman on translation, were used to guide our translation proposal. We pointed out the main characteristics of the biography from the literary point of view and we identified the zones of risk for the appearance of deformations and the considered solutions, with focus on the understatement. Finishing our analysis, we point to the religious aspects that the author ennoble on Madame de Staël and her family.
