Herdeiro da filosofia e da ciência, o conceito se difundiu a ponto de se transformar numa das referências da comunidade profissional internacional, ainda que seja um dos mais complexos e criticados (aliás, o que lhe serviu para sua longevidade). Nesta pesquisa se compilam debates significativos que envolvem o termo dentro da bibliografia especializada, sobretudo a contemporânea, e se divulgam conteúdos pouco presentes em língua portuguesa. Este é um trabalho de natureza exploratória, proposto a favorecer o campo da epistemologia do jornalismo no Brasil. Entre suas contribuições há uma abordagem sobre o uso de hipóteses na prática jornalística e, antes, uma discussão sobre objetividade em Jornalismo Literário. Ademais, nesta pesquisa são feitas duas diferenciações básicas do conceito, a primeira em um sentido genérico (a objetividade jornalística), no que diz respeito a todos os procedimentos e valores orientados à verdade, sejam políticos, éticos, epistemológicos ou técnicos/estéticos. Depois, ele é definido em sentido estrito (a objetividade do jornalismo), relativo apenas à epistemologia, ou seja, como o campo (intelectual e prático) produz conhecimento e quais as características e métodos desse saber. Esta pesquisa orienta a distinção de três momentos para estudo da objetividade numa investigação jornalística: como ponto de partida, percurso e, como possibilidade, conhecimento proposicional a posteriori. / In this research the objectivity is considered as one of the basis of Journalism, this one that gathers values and procedures oriented to the truth. Heir of philosophy and science, the concept have diffused to the level of turning itself in a reference of the international professional community, even being one of the most complex and criticized concepts (something that have collaborated to its longevity). The research put together significant debates about the term in the specialized bibliography, over all, the contemporary, and the contents in Portuguese language are short as a matter of presence. This is an exploratory work; it has the proposal to develop the field of epistemology of Journalism in Brazil. Among its contributions there is a study about the use of hypothesis in the journalist practice and, before, an discussion about objectivity in Literary Journalism. There are two basic differentiations in this text in reference of the concept, firs of all, the text defines it in a general sense (the objectivity in Journalism), involving all the values and procedures oriented to the truth, like politic, ethic, epistemological or aesthetic. After, it is defined in a strict sense (the objectivity of the Journalism), related to the epistemology, or, how does the field (practical and intellectual) make knowledge and which are its
characteristics and methods. This study orients the distinction of three moments to the objectivity study in a journalistic investigation: as point of departure, trajectory and, as a possibility, propositional knowledge a posteriori.
