extrapolam os contornos supostamente visíveis, as metáforas visuais. Na
obra literária Ensaio sobre a cegueira (1995), de Saramago, tem-se a
construção de uma metáfora para a caracterização da cegueira branca.
Tomando tal construção, o filme homônimo, objeto de análise desta
dissertação, de Fernando Meirelles (2008), constrói a metáfora na sua
forma visual. Esta pesquisa visa à análise de metáforas visuais, salientes em 25 sequências da obra cinematográfica, apresentadas por meio do elemento cor branca e preta. Abrangendo-se os domínios da semiótica, as bases teóricas de Peirce fundamentam a análise dos processos tradutórios envolvidos na compreensão das metáforas visuais / To say what you want does not require the use of literal language, independent of its nature. In the non-verbal sphere, other elements of
language are used to transmit information that goes beyond the supposedly visible contours: the visual metaphors. In the literary work Blindness (1995), by Saramago, there is the construction of a metaphor for the haracterization of white blindness. Taking this construction, the film of the same name, directed by Fernando Meirelles (2008), which is the object of analysis of this dissertation, builds the metaphor in its visual form. This research aims at analyzing the salient visual metaphors in twenty-five sequences of the cinematographic work, and presented through the white and black element. Covering the domain of semiotics, Peirce#s theory provides the basis for the investigation of the translating processes involved in the comprehension of visual metaphors
