O bojo das visitas etnográficas embutido na obra é sua atenção ao público proletário, na busca pela formulação de uma cultura popular nacional. O escritor modernista assume postura de intelectual comprometido com a sociedade que ele busca representar, em seus escritos e crônicas de viagens dessa mesma obra. Buscamos ensaiar, exclusivamente, sua atuação durante suas andanças nas principais cidades do Norte e Nordeste Brasileiro, com a preocupação de integrar a seus escritos um caráter social. Também abrimos uma investigação sobre as principais vanguardas europeias, assim como sobre as facetas intelectuais de Mário de Andrade, a fim de rastrear seu potencial de artista polígrafo, perfazendo seu movimento nos diversos meios artísticos durante sua vida. As vanguardas europeias oriundas de Mário de Andrade são fruto de grande relevância social e literária inserida em seus contextos de época, onde agem como desencadeadoras e antecipadoras de outras obras de grande valor. Com rigor, problematizamos todo esse material artístico, buscando possíveis respostas para seu estilo eclético, frente às responsabilidades que ele assumiu como intelectual múltiplo, defendendo o povo e da cultura brasileira. Mário de Andrade, ao se aproximar do povo, gerou inúmeras contribuições sociais. Por esse motivo, utilizamos muitos fragmentos extraídos da própria obra, para evidenciar nosso mote de pesquisa, sob a luz dos teóricos que dão consistência ao objeto de análise. Diante dos fragmentos iluminados, buscamos: levantar interpretações, esmiuçando-os, para buscar elementos que esbocem as relações abrangentes, sob a luz do cabedal teórico justificado e escolhido; e trazer o pensamento de Mário de Andrade, como representação canônica de um modelo literário. Fechamos o trabalho com o levantamento de um debate imaginário com o escritor Mário de Andrade, fazendo com que ele especule suas principais respostas e busque, ainda mais, indagar alguns assuntos pertinentes ao oficio do escritor e do intelectual / This dissertation aims at investigating the perspective of the intellectual Mario de Andrade in his work O turista aprendiz, in relation to his representation and performance as a writer who is concerned with comprehending the social problems he witnessed during his stay in the North and in the Northeast Brazil. The core of his ethnographic visits, embedded in his work, is the attention devoted to the proletariat audience, in the search for the formulations of a popular culture, aimed at a national level. We understand that the modernist writer assumes the position of an intellectual committed to the society he aims at representing through his writings and the travel chronicles present in the aforementioned work. We shall discuss, exclusively, his performance in his trips around the main cities of North and Northeast Brazil, with the concern of integrating a type of social character to his writings. This work also opens a discussion about the main European avant-gardes, as well as intellectual aspects of Mario de Andrade, attempting to trace his potential as a polygraph artist, comprising his movement in the various artistic means during the trajectory of his life. The European avant-gardes derived from Mario de Andrade are results of a great social and literary relevance inserted in his time contexts, in which they act as triggers and anticipators of other works of great value. Accurately, we problematize all this artistic material, searching for possible answers for his eclectic style facing the responsibilities he assumed as a multiple intellectual who defends the people and the culture of Brazil. When approaching the people, Mário de Andrade produced social contributions that permeate all this dissertation. For this reason, we use many fragments extracted from de Andrade's work to highlight our research motto, under the light of the theorists who will give consistence to our analysis object. Facing the enlighted fragments, we will try to raise some interpretations, in detail, scrutinizing them in order to examine and search for elements that can outline the broad relations under the light of the justified and chosen theoretical parameters. Furthermore, we bring Mário de Andrade#'s thoughts as a canonic representation of a literary model. Finally, we will examine and end our work with and imaginary debate with the writer Mário de Andrade, making him speculate his main answers and look for more questioning of some subjects concerning the work of the writer and of the intellectual
