labor intrinsecamente relacionado ao ciclo informacional, propondo-se a demonstrar a
similaridade entre a natureza das suas atividades e aquelas inerentes às do gatekeeper da informação. Ao fazê-lo, enfatizou-se o ciclo informacional e apontou-se a necessidade de examinar as competências necessárias ao pleno desempenho do ofício de Secretariado, ao tempo em que as colocou em simetria com aquelas peculiares dos Profissionais da Informação. Pretendeu-se, ainda, utilizando as lentes da Sociologia das Profissões, representada pela Teoria da Jurisdição de Andrew Abbott, investigar a profissão de Secretariado Executivo e a ascensão da praxis típica da função de secretariar. Os procedimentos metodológicos adotados se configuraram na análise quantitativa e qualitativa. O universo analisado referiu-se aos secretários executivos filiados ao Sindicato das Secretárias e dos Secretários do Distrito Federal. Os dados foram coletados por meio de questionários semiestruturados, mediante um roteiro. No ambiente organizacional estudado, ficou evidenciado que o secretário executivo interfere no fluxo de informações de natureza informal, não tendo, entretanto, adquirido
maturidade profissional para desempenhar integralmente os seus papéis
informacionais. Nas atividades secretariais foram encontradas claras evidências, forte
tendência e uma natural disposição do profissional de Secretariado Executivo para
exercer as características peculiares ao gatekeeper da informação. ______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This research aimed at highlighting the activities of the Executive Secretary as a
labor intrinsically related to the information cycle, offering to demonstrate the similarity between the nature of its activities and the ones inherent to the gatekeeper of information. By doing so, it was emphasized the information cycle and indicated the need to analyze the competences required for the full performance of the Secretariat labor, at the same time that placed them in symmetry with those peculiar to the Information Professionals. It also intended, using the lenses of Professions Sociology,
through the Jurisdiction Theory by Andrew Abbott, to investigate the profession of the
Executive Secretariat. The methodological procedures used are the quantitative and
qualitative analysis. The universe under consideration refers to the secretaries affiliated to the “Sindicato das Secretárias e dos Secretários do Distrito Federal”. Data were gathered by means of questionnaires, using a script. In the organizational environment investigated, it was evident that the executive secretary interferes in the flow of information of informal nature and has not, however, acquired professional maturity to fully play their informational roles. In secretarial activities were found clear evidence, strong trend and a natural disposition of the professional executive secretary to exercise the features peculiar to the gatekeeper of information.
