Teve como objetivos específicos investigar a trajetória da capoeira no Brasil e as formas de transmissão e perpetuação dessa tradição; investigar qual o papel do mestre, do discípulo e a relação que se estabelece entre eles no espaço da capoeira; investigar quais as tradições e rituais que permeiam e estruturam o espaço da capoeira; e investigar e analisar por meio da fala de mestres se haveria e qual seria o valor educativo da capoeira. O instrumento metodológico utilizado foi a entrevista semi-estruturada. Foram entrevistados 3 mestres de capoeira que treinam e atuam em espaços distintos, assim como 1 discípulo de cada um deles. As entrevistas foram transcritas e analisadas. Elas revelaram o que cada entrevistado entende como valor educativo e quais desses valores foram atribuídos por eles à capoeira. Os entrevistados compreendem por valor educativo tudo aquilo que é capaz de formar o indivíduo. Afirmaram que a capoeira possui inúmeros valores educativos e apontaram para a importância das relações que se estabelecem entre mestre e aluno e entre os próprios alunos. Também levantaram a questão dos valores que são passados através da perpetuação da tradição, da história e dos rituais inerentes à prática da capoeira. Os resultados sugerem que o ambiente da capoeira possibilita a manifestação de diversos valores educativos, mas que estes valores estão intimamente ligados à pessoa do mestre que direciona o trabalho pedagógico. Sabendo que a capoeira é um universo complexo sugere-se que outras investigações possam ampliar a presente pesquisa por meio de impressões de capoeiristas em outros contextos. ______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This work has the purpose to investigate if there is and what would be the educational value of the art of capoeira. Its specific objectives were the investigation of the evolution of the art capoeira in Brazil and the ways of transmission and perpetuation of this tradition; the investigation of the role of master, disciple and the relation established between them in the art of capoeira environment; the investigation of which traditions and rituals permeate and structure the art capoeira environment; and the investigation and analysis based on masters’ speeches if there is and what would be the educational value of the art capoeira. The methodological instrument used was the semi-structured interview. Three masters of the art of capoeira, who play and act in distinct places, as well as one disciple of each one, were interviewed. The interviews were transcribed and analyzed. They revealed what each interviewee understands as educational value and which of these values were connected to the art of capoeira. The interviewees understand for educational value everything that is able to form the individual. They affirmed that the art of capoeira has many educational values and pointed to the importance of relations established between master and student and among students themselves. They also brought the question regarding values taught through the perpetuation of tradition, history and rituals inherent to the practice of the art of capoeira. The results suggest that the environment of the art of capoeira foster the manifestation of diverse educational values, but that these values are intimately linked to the master that conducts the pedagogical work. Having in mind the art of capoeira is a complex universe, it is suggested that other investigations may extend the present research through the impressions of capoeiristas in other contexts.
