Previous issue date: 2007 / Brasília foi construída em um verdadeiro vazio. Essa afirmativa é típica de quem
desconhece a história da região do Planalto Central, onde a Capital da República foi
construída em meados do século XX. Baixos índices demográficos não significam,
necessariamente, um vazio demográfico ou histórico. A reconstituição da história dessa
região, em tempos que antecederam a implantação de Brasília, atesta isso. Realizar uma
análise a partir dessa reconstituição é um dos objetivos desta pesquisa, que buscou
relacionar o passado anterior à construção Nova Capital e à atual configuração territorial
da região do Distrito Federal e Entorno - RIDE. Acreditamos que conhecer os vários
momentos do processo de ocupação regional é fundamental para entender que o
surgimento de Brasília é apenas uma etapa do processo ocorrido no Planalto Central,
iniciado com a prática da mineração do ouro no século XVIII. Esse foi o período de
surgimento das localidades de Meia Ponte, Santa Luzia e o Arraial de Couros. Essas
localidades foram os núcleos primitivos dos municípios de Pirenópolis, Luziânia e
Formosa, respectivamente, e deram origem a outros municípios do estado de Goiás, dos
quais, alguns, compõem a atual RIDE. Essas três localidades passaram por todas as
etapas de ocupação do território regional e tiveram grande importância na formação da
região. _______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / Brasilia was constructed in a true emptiness. This affirmation is typical of who is
unaware of the history of the region of Central Plateaus, where the Capital of the
Republic was constructed in middle of century XX. Low demographic indices do not
mean, necessarily, a demographic or historical emptiness. The reconstitution of the
history of this region, in times that had preceded the implantation of Brasilia, surely
show this. To carry through an analysis from this reconstitution is one of the objectives
of this research, that it searched to relate the previous past to the Capital New
construction and the current territorial configuration of the region of the District Federal
and Entorno - RIDE. We believe that to know better the moments of the process of
regional occupation it is basic to understand that the sprouting of Brasilia is only one
stage of the process occurred in Central Plateaus, initiated with the practical one of the
gold mining in century XVIII. This was the period of sprouting of the localities of Meia
Ponte, Saint Luzia and the Arraial de Couros. These places had been the primitive
nuclei of the cities of Pirenópolis, Luziânia and Formosa, respectively, and had brought
to spring to other cities of the state of Goiás, in which, some, they compose the current
one RIDE. These three places had passed for all the stages of occupation of the regional
territory and had great importance in the formation of the region.
