Previous issue date: 2017-09-25 / A homeopatia é uma ciência médica criada por Samuel Hahnemann há mais de 200 anos na Alemanha. A principal dificuldade de se explicar cientificamente o fenômeno homeopático está nas diluições elevadas, ou seja, altas potências. Enquanto que o efeito farmacológico aumenta com a concentração da droga, na homeopatia ocorre o contrário. O objetivo geral do trabalho foi avaliar e observar se as propriedades físicas das diluições homeopáticas do Argentum metallicum e do Arsenicum album são alteradas após o processo de produção desses medicamentos, ou seja, a sucussão e a diluição, utilizando-se dos métodos instrumentais de espalhamento dinâmico de luz e espectrômetro de ultravioleta-visível, com vistas a identificar se há algum padrão relevante ao estudo científico da homeopatia. As propriedades físicas analisadas foram: a absorção da radiação ultravioleta-visível, os diâmetros das partículas das medicações, a formação de agregados moleculares e o potencial zeta. Analisou-se, estatisticamente, os tamanhos das partículas. Os aparelhos utilizados foram o espectrofotômetro UV-vis (ultravioleta-visível) de duplo feixe da marca Hitachi®, modelo 3900H e o equipamento Zetasizer Nano Series, marca Malvern Instruments Limited, Nano ZS®P. Todas as medidas foram realizadas em triplicatas. As modificações nas propriedades físicas que ocorreram nas medicações homeopáticas não foram estatisticamente significativas entre as diferentes potências, contudo a formação dos agregados mostrou-se relevante, pois seus formatos permitem conter em eu interior das moléculas do insumo ativo. Então, o processo de produção da medicação pode formar figuras geométricas complexas. Assim, os aglomerados são uma propriedade inerente da água e serviria como meio de transporte de informação do principio ativo da medicação homeopática para o sistema biológico. Contudo, o desenvolvimento de modelos que investigue a geometria e a estrutura eletrônica dos aglomerados permitirá avanço no entendimento científico da homeopatia. / Homeopathy is a medical science created by Samuel Hahnemann over 200 years ago in Germany. The main difficulty of explaining the homeopathic phenomenon scientifically is in the high dilutions, that is, high potencies. While the pharmacological effect increases with drug concentration, in homeopathy the opposite occurs. The general objective of this work was to evaluate and to observe if the physical properties of the homeopathic dilutions of Argentum metallicum and of Arsenicum album are altered after the production process of these medicines, that is, the suction and the dilution, using instrumental methods of spreading Dynamic light and ultraviolet-visible spectrometer with the aim of identifying if there is any relevant pattern to the scientific study of homeopathy. The physical properties analyzed were; The absorption of ultraviolet-visible radiation, the particle diameters of the medications, the formation of molecular aggregates and the zeta potential. Particle size was analyzed statistically. The devices used were the Hitachi® model 3900H dual-beam UV-vis (ultraviolet-visible) spectrophotometer and the Zetasizer Nano Series, Malvern Instruments Limited, Nano ZS®P. All measurements were performed in triplicates. The modifications in the physical properties that occurred in the homeopathic medications were not statistically significant between the different potencies, however the formation of the aggregates proved to be relevant because their formats allow to contain in the interior of the molecules of the active ingredient. So the process of producing the medication can form complex geometric figures. Thus clusters are an inherent property of water and would serve as a means of transporting information from the active principle of homeopathic medication to the biological system. However, the development of models that investigate the geometry and the electronic structure of clusters will allow advancement in the scientific understanding of homeopathy.
