Previous issue date: 2018-02-06 / Esta pesquisa se ampara na interface entre a Linguística de Corpus (BERBER-SARDINHA, 2000, 2004; BIBER, 1990, 1993) e o aporte teórico da Linguística Sistêmico-Funcional-LSF (HALLIDAY, 1994; HALLIDAY; MATTHIESSEN, 2014; EGGINS, 2004), em específico no subdomínio da avaliação no âmbito da metafunção interpessoal do estrato semântico, cujos significados se organizam na rede de Sistemas de Avaliatividade-SA (MARTIN; WHITE, 2005), com o propósito de fazer a descrição de textos instanciadores do gênero artigo científico em diferentes áreas disciplinares do ponto de vista do ‘estilo avaliativo’ (PRAXEDES FILHO; MAGALHAES, 2013, 2015), cujo campo do discurso concerne às áreas disciplinares Química, Engenharia Civil, Antropologia e Linguística Visando contribuir com os estudos no âmbito da LSF-SA, no intuito de preencher uma lacuna teórica e metodológica nos estudos referentes à subjetividade/ não neutralidade no discurso da ciência, realizei uma investigação, de uma perspectiva descritivista, pautando-me numa provável existência de um padrão de uso avaliativo da língua que caracterizasse o ‘estilo avaliativo’ dos textos instanciadores do gênero ‘artigo científico’ nos preceitos do SA, realizado nos quatro registros diferenciados pela área disciplinar na variável ‘campo’ do contexto de situação (HALLIDAY; HASAN, 1989). Para tanto, três questionamentos foram levantados: (1) Existem padrões de uso avaliativo da língua em textos instanciadores do gênero ‘artigo científico’ das áreas disciplinares Química, Engenharia Civil, Antropologia e Linguística, que possam caracterizar seu ‘estilo avaliativo’ por área, a partir das ocorrências dos termos/escolhas dos sistemas que compõem a rede de sistemas de avaliatividade quanto às subredes de ‘atitude’, ‘engajamento’ e ‘gradação’? (2) Quais as características do ‘estilo avaliativo’ por área disciplinar, com base nos padrões de uso avaliativo da língua que venham a emergir? (3) Existem diferenças e/ou semelhanças quanto ao ‘estilo avaliativo’ entre as áreas disciplinares Química, Engenharia Civil, Antropologia e Linguística? Quais são? A metodologia envolve uma dimensão descritiva e de caráter exploratório e trata-se de uma pesquisa quanti-qualitativa, uma vez que mapeou e interpretou os padrões de uso avaliativo na língua. O corpus foi constituído por quatro subcorpus, cada um formado por dez trechos de 1.000 palavras, escolhidas aleatoriamente em grupos de dez artigos científicos de cada uma das quatro áreas disciplinares estudadas, tendo como fonte de busca a plataforma Scielo-Brasil. Como recursos metodológicos foram utilizados a fórmula randbetween (Excel) e o método Split-half (BIBER, 1990, 1993) para a seleção das amostras. Para extração dos dados estatísticos, foi utilizado o software WordSmith Tools 6.0 (SCOTT, 2008). Os textos foram analisados quanto às combinações de termos/escolhas nas três subredes (“atitude_, “engajamento”, “gradação”) da rede de sistemas de avaliatividade, proposta pelo SA-LSF (MARTIN; WHITE, 2005). Os resultados mostram que a pergunta de pesquisa 1 foi respondida afirmativamente por subrede para as quatro áreas disciplinares. Quanto à pergunta de pesquisa 2, a resposta foi o estilo avaliativo é caracterizado, em linhas gerais, no âmbito de cada subrede e área disciplinar da seguinte forma: Química -'engajamento'> 'gradação'>'atitude'; Engenharia Civil -'engajamento'>'gradação’> 'atitude_; Antropologia 'engajamento’ > 'atitude’ > 'gradação'; Linguística 'engajamento’ > 'atitude’ > 'gradação’. Em relação à terceira pergunta de pesquisa, foi mostrado que há mais semelhanças do que diferenças entre as quatro áreas disciplinares quanto ao ‘estilo avaliativo’. Espero que essas descobertas, além de contribuir com os estudos no âmbito da área LSF-SA, possam trazer impacto no domínio do ensino-aprendizagem, com vistas a romper com o formalismo e a artificialidade excessivos (CORACINI, 1991, 2007) de um ensino do gênero ‘artigo científico’ ancorado na forma e aparência do texto. / This research is grounded on the interface between Corpus Linguistics (BERBER-SARDINHA, 2000, 2004 BIBER, 1990, 1993) and the theoretical contribution of Systemic Functional-Linguistics (HALLIDAY, 1994; HALLIDAY;MATTHIESSEN, 2014; EGGINS, 2004),mainly in the subdomain of the appraisal within the scope of the interpersonal metafunction of the semantic stratum, whose meanings are organized in the network of the System Appraisal-SA (MARTIN; WHITE, 2005), aiming at describing the genre of scientific papers in different disciplinary areas on the point of view of 'evaluative style' (PRAXEDES FILHO; MAGALHÃES, 2015, 2013), whose field of discourse is related to the areas of Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Anthropology and Linguistics. Aiming at contributing to the studies within the scope of the LSF-SA, in order to fill a theoretical and methodological gap in the studies concerning subjectivity / nonneutrality in the discourse of science, a descriptive perspective investigation based on a probable existence of a pattern of language evaluation that characterizes the ‘evaluative style’ of the genre ‘scientific paper’ in the precepts of the System of Appraisal was carried out (HALLIDAY; HASAN, 1989). In order to do so, three questions were raised: (1) Are there patterns for the use of evaluative language in scientific texts of the disciplinary areas of Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Anthropology and Linguistics that can characterize their 'evaluative style' by area, from the occurrences of the terms / choices of the systems that make up the network of appraisal system for the sub-domains of 'attitude', 'engagement' and 'gradation'? (2) What are the characteristics of the ‘'appraisal style' of the genre 'scientific paper' of the disciplinary areas listed in 1, based on the evaluative use patterns of the language that emerge? (3) Are there differences and / or similarities in the ‘appraisal style' of the genre 'scientific content' amongst the disciplinary areas Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Anthropology and Linguistics? Which are they? The methodology used involves a descriptive and exploratory dimension and it is a quant qualitative research, once it has mapped and interpreted the standards of appraisal usage in the language. The corpus consisted of four subcorpus, each consisting of ten excerpts of 1000 words randomly chosen in groups of ten scientific papers from each of the four disciplinary areas studied sourced from Scielo- Brasil. As methodological resources the formula randbetween (Excel) and the split-half method (BIBER, 1993; 1990) were used for the selection of the samples. To extract the statistical data, WordSmith Tools 6 software was used (SCOTT, 2008). The texts were analyzed as to the combinations of terms / choices in the three subnetworks ('attitude', 'engagement', 'gradation') of the network of the appraisal system proposed by SA-LSF (MARTIN; WHITE, 2005). The results show that question 1 was affirmatively answered by the subnet for the four subject areas. As for the research question 2, the answer was that there is an 'evaluative pattern' in the genre 'scientific paper' characterized within each subnetwork and subject area as follows: Chemistry - ‘engagement’>'gradation'> 'attitude’; Civil Engineering - ‘engagement'> 'gradation'> ‘attitude'; Anthropology -'engagement' > 'attitude'>'gradation'; Linguistics -. 'engagement'> ‘attitude’> 'gradation'. Regarding the third research question, it has been shown that there are more similarities than differences between the four disciplinary areas in 'evaluative style'. I hope that these findings, in addition to contributing to the studies within the LSF-SA area, may have an impact in the teaching and learning field, in order to break with the excessive formalism and artificiality (CORACINI, 1991, 2007) 'scientific papers' anchored in the form and appearance of the text.
