Previous issue date: 2008-05-09 / A dissertação A Fotografia como Memória na Vida dos Candangos é um estudo sobre a reconstrução e a ressignificação da história de vida de alguns indivíduos - os Candangos, primeiros moradores de Brasília - na recriação de suas identidades e direitos. Abrange não somente moradores e Brasília, mas também outros de diferentes localidades do Distrito Federal e o Entorno, de diversas classes sociais. O objetivo principal é acrescentar informações ao construto histórico produzido sobre o Distrito Federal, mediante o auxílio de fotografias de acervo pessoal, demonstrando como a imagem pode ser um instrumento valioso na reconstrução da memória dos indivíduos, possibilitando, posteriormente, a criação de um documento que recupere uma parcela da memória social de um povo, no caso, os Candangos. O estudo baseia-se nas histórias, percepções e interpretações de fatos mediante o auxílio de fotografias dos acervos pessoais e de relatos dos indivíduos pesquisados. O marco teórico corresponde ao levantamento da bibliografia relacionada aos seguintes temas: fotografia (história e considerações), memória (reconstrução do passado), História Oral (reflexões sobre a ética na História Oral, relações entre História Oral e memória, identidade coletiva) e a construção de Brasília. Entre os autores estudados, encontram-se Manguel, Bourdieu, Kossoy, Halbwachs, Benjamin, Aceves, Portelli, Castells, Carvalho, Brayner, Sinoti e Nunes. A metodologia utilizada engloba pesquisa bibliográfica, pesquisa de campo, coleta de fotos de acervo pessoal, tomada de fotografias, histórias de vida, quadros-resumo e entrevistas. A pesquisa visa a escrever as memórias de alguns indivíduos da comunidade brasiliense - os Candangos -, não se restringindo à reconstrução de um passado morto e enterrado, dentro de uma abordagem nostálgica, como se só o que já passou fosse bom e tivesse valor. Na verdade, visa à reconstrução de memórias de pessoas mais velhas que serão passadas às gerações mais novas pelas palavras, gestos, sentimentos de comunidade e de destino: elementos que ligam os moradores de um lugar. O trabalho deverá evidenciar o valor das pessoas que vêm da maioria desconhecida do povo e poderá inspirar outros pesquisadores a fazerem trabalhos semelhantes, cujo enfoque se dá a partir da história que vem das comunidades. Isso propicia o contato e a compreensão entre classes sociais e gerações, além de um sentimento de pertencimento a determinado lugar e a determinada época. _______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The dissertation The Photography as Memory in Candangos’ Life is a study about the reconstruction and the resignification of some individuals’ life history – the first inhabitants of Brasília, called Candangos – in the re-creation of their identities and rights. It includes not just people who live in Brasilia, but others, from different localities in Distrito Federal and Entorno, from different social classes. The main objective is to bring information to the historical construct produced about the Distrito Federal, by means of photographies of personal archives, demonstrating as the image can be a valuable instrument in the reconstruction of the individuals’ memory. It can make possible, later, the creation of a document that recovers a parcel of the social memory of people; in this case, the original inhabitants of Brasília, called Candangos. The study is based on histories, perceptions and interpretations of facts, by means the aid of photographs of the personal archives, and narratives of the searched individuals. The theoretical references correspond to the bibliographic survey related to the following subjects: the photography (history and considerations), the memory (the reconstruction of the past), verbal history (reflections on the ethics in the verbal history, relations between verbal history and memory, collective identity) and the construction of Brasília. Among the studied authors, Manguel, Bourdieu, Kossoy, Halbwachs, Benjamin, Aceves, Portelli, Castells, Carvalho, Brayner, Sinoti and Nunes can be cited. The methodology used includes bibliographical research, field research, and collection of photos of personal archives, photograph taken by this author, life histories, summary table and interviews. The research intends to preserve the memories of some individuals of the community of Brasília – the Candangos –, but not restricting to the reconstruction of a dead and embedded past, in a nostalgic approach, as if just the past is good and worth. In fact, it seeks the reconstruction of memories of older people which will be passed to the new generations by words, gestures, feelings of community and fate: elements that bind the inhabitants of a place. The work will evidence the value of people who come from the unknown population and it could to inspire other researchers to make similar works, whose approach starts from the history of the communities. This provides the contact and the comprehension among social classes and generations, besides a feeling that people belong to the determined place and time.
