Previous issue date: 2008-12-22 / A presente pesquisa é qualitativa de cunho interpretativista e tem como objetivo pôr à luz o ambiente do ensino-aprendizagem do Português Língua Estrangeira na Costa do Marfim, especificamente na Universidade de Abidjan-Cocody iniciado há uma década. O ensino de línguas estrangeiras teve um desenvolvimento considerável no país, mas no caso do Português foi diferente na medida em que, durante vinte anos ensinado de maneira “rudimentar”, faz parte integrante do sistema educativo marfinense. Nosso estudo foi desenvolvido nessa instituição onde tentamos tomar conhecimento da realidade (não desconhecida por nós) dos aprendizes, formadores e responsáveis pelo estabelecimento das políticas públicas e lingüísticas com relação à língua portuguesa no país. Para isso, realizamos um estudo de caso que nos permitiu coletar os dados através de questionários, entrevistas, observação de aulas, etc. Após definidas as limitações inerentes à divulgação dessa língua, apontamos recursos e meios susceptíveis de lhe conferir um lugar de destaque no país. A pesquisa nos permitiu através de um contato direto com os atores do processo de divulgação da língua (autoridades governamentais e acadêmicas, professores, alunos) descobrir, por exemplo, que essa língua que está em processo de total implementação no país ainda necessita um apoio de emergência por parte do governo e de políticas lingüísticas e públicas mais eficientes e perceptíveis, pois há inúmeras dificuldades tais como: escassez de recursos financeiros, de salas, laboratórios, etc. para que possamos ter um ensino digno e eficiente. _________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The present research is qualitative and interpretivist in its nature and has as its main objective to bring to light the conditions for the teaching and learning of Portuguese as a Foreign Language in the Côte d’Ivoire, particularly at the University of Abidjan- Cocody, initiated as a program a little over a decade ago. The education of foreign languages had a considerable development in the country, but in the case of the Portuguese Language it was different in the sense that, during twenty years it was taught under quite severe limitations, albeit extended to the whole Ivorian educational system. Our study was developed in that higher education institution where we tried to raise data concerning the reality (not unknown to us) of the learners, supervisors, teachers and officials responsible for the establishment of public language policies with regard to the Portuguese language in the country. For this, we carried through a case study that allowed us to collect relevant information through questionnaires, interviews, class observation etc. After defining the inherent limitations to the spreading of this language, we pointed sensitive resources and ways of conferring prominence to the offering of that target language in the country. The research also allowed direct contact with the actors of the process of spreading the language (governmental and academic authorities, professors, pupils) to discover, for example, that this language is in the process of total implementation in the country but it still badly requires an emergency support on the government’s part and more efficient and perceivable linguistic and public policies. There still remains innumerable difficulties such as: scarcity of financial resources, teaching classrooms, laboratories and so on. A number of suggested initiatives are brought about in the text so that one could expect a noticeable improvement in the teaching of PLE in the Côte d’Ivoire. _______________________________________________________________________________________ RESUMÉ / La présente étude est qualitative à connotation interprétativiste et a pour objet de
mettre à l’écran l’atmosphère dans laquelle le portugais est ensigné comme langue
étrangère en Côte d’Ivoire, plus précisément à l’Université d’Abidjan-Cocody, amorcé il ya une décennie.l Même si l'enseignement des langues étrangères a connu um essor
considérable dans le pays, il convient de signaler que le cas du portugais est different, dans la mesure où, pendant plus de vingt ans enseigné de manière “rudimentaire”, elle fait aujourd’hui partie intégrante du système éducatif ivoirien. Notre recherche a été élaborée dans cette institution où nous avons essayé de nous imprégner des réalités (que nous ne méconnaissons pas) des apprenants, formateurs et responsables à travers des politiques publiques et linguistiques en rapport avec la langue dans le pays. Pour ce faire, nous avons réalisé une étude de cas qui nous a permis de recueillir les données à travers questionnaires, entrevues, observation de cours, etc. Après avoir defini les insuffisances inhérentes à l’expansion de cette langue, nous avons indiqué des ressources et voies susceptibles de lui conférer une place de choix dans le pays. La recherche nous a également permis, par um contact direct aves les acteurs de cette divulgation de la langue (autorités gouvernementales, académiques, professeurs, étudiants) de découvrir, par exemple que cette langue qui est en instance de totale implantation dans le pays réquiert encore um appui urgent de la part du gouvernement ainsi que des politiques linguistiques et publiques plus efficientes et perceptibles en ce sens qu’on y rencontre diverses diffucultés telles que la rareté des ressources financières, de salles de cours, de laboratoires, etc., dans l’optique d’un enseignement digne et efficient.
