No presente trabalho, o novo gênero aparece como grupo irmão de Piabina + Creagrutus por compartilhar com aqueles gêneros a presença não ambígua de um processo medial dorsolateral no hiomandibular. O novo gênero é monotípico e se distingue de todos os demais Characidae por apresentar coracóide com um entalhe reto e oblíquo postero-ventral e palatino triangular. / A new genus is described from Rio Quente, affluent of rio Corumbá, rio Paranaíba, upper rio Paraná system, and belongs to Clado A (Malabaraba & Weitzman, 2003) by the presence of ii, 8 dorsal-fin rays and four teeth in the inner row of premaxilla. In this study, the new genus is shown as a sister group of Piabina + Creagrutus, sharing with them the presence not ambiguous of one dorsolateral buttress in the hiomandibular. The new genus is monotypic and is distinguished from all Characidae by having the coracoid postero-ventral incision straight and obliquious and a triangular palatine.
