Para tal empreita é preciso se levar em consideração as oposições que Rousseau dirigiu a seus contemporâneos do século XVIII, suas críticas ao teatro que se praticava na França com o intuito de mostrar sua ineficácia em alterar a forma de pensamento e ação da população e finalmente em seu embate contra o criador de comédias Molière, para demonstrar o quanto seu teatro seria prejudicial se autorizado. / The present study aims to analyze the ideas of the Genevan thinker Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s theatre, more specifically to his moral and political criticism to the plays which were believed to be good instruments to spread the Enlightenment ideas. For such work it is necessary to take into account the oppositions Rousseau addressed to his contemporaries of the XVIII century, his criticism to the Theatre practiced in France with the objective of showing it’s ineffectiveness in changing the way of thinking and the population’s actions and finally his clash against the Comedy creator Molière, to demonstrate how much Molière’s Theatre would have been harmful if it had been authorized.
