Previous issue date: 2004 / Resumo: O trabalho situa-se no campo de pesquisa que investiga a participação da História da
Matemática e da Educação Matemática na formação de professores das séries iniciais do
Ensino Fundamental. Nossa questão central de investigação consistiu em identificar os
valores que estariam sustentando a naturalização do processo de transmissão da prática
social do cálculo escrito na instituição escolar. Tal identificação foi realizada através de
uma problematização do diálogo ocorrido, durante sessões interativas de investigação,
entre a pesquisadora e um grupo de professoras das séries iniciais do Ensino Fundamental.
Por sua vez, essa problematização tomou como ponto referência alguns aspectos da história
dos processos de apropriação da prática social do cálculo escrito ao modo hindu-arábico.
Os trabalhos de Michel Foucault constituíram fonte de inspiração para o desenvolvimento
da pesquisa / Abstract: The niche of this work is in the research field which investigates the participation of
the History of Mathematics and Math Education in the formation of the teachers for the initial grades of elementary school. Our central subject of investigation has consisted of identifying the values which would be sustaining the naturalization of a transmission process in the social practice of calculation written at school. Such identification was accomplished through a problemization of the dialogue which took place during the interactive investigation sessions between the researcher and a group of teachers from the
initial grades of elementary school. On its turn, this problemization has taken, as its point of
reference, some aspects from the history of the social practice appropriation processes of writing calculation to the Hindu-Arabic mode. Michel Foucault's works have been an inspiration source for the development of this research / Doutorado / Doutor em Educação
