Previous issue date: 1998 / Resumo: Essa dissertação aborda, a partir de uma análise da obra de Francis Henrik Aubert, a resistência da tradução à sistematização no interior de uma teoria. Detecto em sua teorização uma tensão que revela um conflito flutuando entre a admissão da provisoriedade da tradução e a elaboração de construtos para controlá-Ia, pela tentativa de limitação da intervenção do tradutor, supostamente isento em relação ao seu objeto, a língua. Proponho uma leitura da trajetória e dos compromissos teóricos de Aubert, a partir do seguinte recorte: um perfil geral da sua reflexão teórica, abrangendo várias áreas de atuação; o modelo integral, que inclui a abordagem lingüística, a cultural e as "(In)Fidelidades da Tradução", quando o autor propõe redimensionar o papel tradicionalmente atribuído ao tradutor e à tradução; e a encenação da resistência da . tradução à sistematicidade em Aubert, analisada através do double bind. A dimensão desconstrutivista mostra que a tradução, através da língua, é necessária e impossível e que o tradutor, ao traduzir, não se separa do seu objeto a, língua. Esse duplo endividamento entre o tradutor e o seu objeto revela o double bind, que não se analisa integralmente e deflagra a resistência. Em Aubert, aponto um jogo duplo, em sua reflexão, entre necessidade e impossibilidade, que encena a resistência da tradução à sistematização / Abstract:The main goal of this thesis is to discuss the resistance of translation to the systhematization within a theory. Based on the analysis of the work of Francis Henrik Aubert, I have detected a tension which revels a conflict between his admission that translation is provisional and his attempt to control it, by trying to limite the translator's intervention, supposedly free from his object, the language. I shall propose this study of Aubert's theoretical compromises, guided by the sequence of themes, such as it follows: an overview of his theorization, including the discussion of selected articles dealing with linguistics, terminology, translation and computers, translation and linguistics, cultural translation, translation and the role of the translator, translation and the university. From this study I discuss the modelo integral, which includes the approaches that the author proposes to explain the translation and the role of the translator. And, finally, the resistance of translation to systhematization is discussed, in Aubert's theorization, which is shaken by the double bind. The deconstruction shows that the translation, through the language, is necessary and impossible; and that the translator, while translating, is not ftee ftom his object, the language itself This double commitment between the translator and the language revels the double bind, which can't be totally analysed and provokes resistance.
