Previous issue date: 2002 / Resumo: Este trabalho teve como objetivo verificar a relação existente entre as danças dos orixás da água ( Oxum e lemanjá) e a gestualidade das lavadeiras da região de IIhéus-SA, visando a re-elaboração desses elementos na composição coreográfica. Tecendo reflexões sobre a dança, a influência e as conseqüências do pensamento mítico e simbólico para o ser humano, no contexto geral, ampliando essas reflexões no estudo do Mito Nagô. Outrossim, compreender o processo pelo qual o homem elabora, re-elabora, cria e intercambia conhecimentos através de sua experiências míticas, também presentes na dança. A metodologia utilizada foi a da pesquisa - ação na qual o pesquisador e pesquisado participaram ativamente da pesquisa. Este estudo foi desenvolvido sobre o mito, símbolo, mitologia afrobrasileira e a gestualidade das lavadeiras, proporcionando um processo criativo. O produto artístico dessa pesquisa foi à composição coreográfica denominada Abebé. Em Abebé considerou-se importante selecionar os elementos simbólicos a serem reelaborados. Nessa perspectiva os Orixás Oxum e lemanjá são considerados entidades simbólicas, que representam o elemento água e possuem em comum o símbolo Abebé - leque ritual. Estabeleceu-se, uma linguagem coreográfica, através de analogias e re-elaborou-se o gestual das lavadeiras e as danças dos orixás da água (Oxum e lemanjá). Neste contexto, estruturou-se cenicamente a dança cuja origem é a tradição africana com suas características fundamentais, trazendo a gestualidade das lavadeiras, o mito e a ancestralidade para a dança contemporânea / Abstract: This work had as objective to verify the existent relationship among the dances of the 'orixás' of the water ('Oxum' and 'Iemanjá') and the gesture of the laundresses of the area of Islander-BA, seeking the re-elaboration of those elements in the choreographic composition. Weaving reflections on the dance, the influence and the consequences of the mythical and symbolic thought for the human being, in the general context, enlarging those reflections in Myth 'Nagô' study. Also, to understand the process for which the man elaborates, it re-elaborates, it creates and it exchanges knowledge through its mythical experiences, also presents in the dance. The used methodology was the one of the research - action in the one which the researcher and researched they participated actively of the research.
