Previous issue date: 2002 / Resumo: Embora o desenvolvimento de gêmeos seja muito semelhante ao de crianças não gêmeas, há pelo menos uma área em que costumam ficar defasados: a linguagem. Uma das hipóteses explicativas para esse fato poderia ser justamente a "situação gemelar", pois tendo sempre a companhia do outro, não surgiria a necessidade objetiva de "contato linguístico" com outras pessoas, constituindo um fator cristalizador do atraso. Eles seriam um par auto-suficiente.(LURIA e YUDOVICH, 1987). Pretendeu-se, aqui, verificar como a linguagem situa-se e desenvolve-se neste contexto de mundo partilhado com um irmão, que vivencia as mesmas situações cotidianas. Esse trabalho norteou-se pelos pressupostos da linha histórico-cultural de VYGOSTSKY (1987;1988).Este trabalho tem por objetivo compreender como se processa o desenvolvimento da linguagem de crianças gêmeas idênticas num contexto de grupo terapêutico. Metodologicamente assumiu-se uma "posição desenvolvimental", na qual um grupo de seis meninos (dois pares de gêmeos e dois não gêmeos), na faixa etária de 4-5 anos, foi atendido semanalmente durante 22 meses, tendo como atividade básica o ouvir-contar-recontar histórias infantis. Os resultados mostraram o quanto as interações ocorridas entre as crianças contribuíram para o desenvolvimento da linguagem oral dos pares de gêmeos. Concluiu-se que a relação gemelar é um poderoso instrumento de desenvolvimento linguístico-social, no contexto da terapia fonoaudiológica em grupo / Abstract: Although the development of twins are very similar to the development of children who are not twins, there is at least one area where they are usually behind the others: the language. And one of the hypothesis which tries to explain this fact is precisely the "twin situation", because a twin, always having the other twin's company, wouldn't feel any objective need for language contact with other people, constituting a factor which would crystallize the deficiency. They would be a "self-sufficient pair" . (LURlA & YUDOVICH, 1987). Here, it intends to verify how the language is situated and developed in this context of a world shared with a brother, that lives the same daily situations. This work is founded on the sociocultural approach to human agency VYGOTSKY's (1987;1988). The objective is to analyse identical twins language development in therapeutic group. Methodologically, a group of six boys, age from 4 to 5 years ( including two pairs of twins) received speech therapy during 22 months. All sessions were videotaped and transcribed. Therapy sessions focused on listening, telling and re-telling stories from children's literature and drawing and painting related to those stories. The results supported that: the children's dynamic interaction that characterized the listening and telling ( re-telling) of stories in group minimized the twin's reliance on gesture and altemative comunication methods with ultimately more effective language.
