cartoonist Angeli about Brazilian politics, within a period which starts in 1985, with Brazil's
re-democratization, until 1990. We used the twenty four issues of bi-monthly magazine series
Chiclete com Banana as source for our research, through the analysis of the examples we
selected images which proportioned us to build a small panorama of the chosen period, whose
refers throughout the years the publication lasted. This research established itself on the usage
of charges, comic stripes and cartoons produced by the artist as testimonials of his era,
identifying these as a neutral approach impregnated with meaning, corresponding to the
artist's point of view but also considering his insertion in a social and professional group
within the scope of his production, This study is bound to the line of research Teaching of
History and Historical Knowledge from the Postgraduate Program of the Federal University
of Paraíba, concentrated on History and Historical Culture , through this study we strive for
outlining the main characteristics of the new political situation configured after the ending of
the military regime in Brazil, from the point of view of the referred artist, his perception and
his critical perspective about the politics and the politicians of the New Republic. / O presente estudo tem por objetivo analisar as representações cômicas produzidas pelo
cartunista Angeli sobre a política brasileira, do período que se incia em 1985, com a
redemocratização do Brasil, até o ano de 1990. Utilizamos como fonte para a nossa pesquisa
os vinte e quatro números da série bimestral da revista Chiclete com Banana. Através da
análise dos exemplares, selecionamos imagens que nos permitiram construir um pequeno
panorama do período escolhido, este referente aos anos pelos quais a publicação se estendeu.
Esta pesquisa assentou-se sobre a utilização das charges, tiras cômicas e cartuns produzidos
pelo artista como testemunhos de sua época, identificando-os como discursos neutros
carregados de significados, correspondentes à visão pessoal do artista mas também
considerando sua inserção num grupo social e profissional no âmbito do qual sua produção se
insere, este estudo está vinculado à linha de pesquisa Ensino de História e Saberes
Históricos do Programa de Pós-Graduação da Universidade Federal da Paraíba, com área de
concentração em História e Cultura Histórica . Através dele, buscamos traçar as principais
características da nova conjuntura política, configurada após o fim do regime militar no
Brasil, a partir das lentes do referido desenhista, suas percepções e sua perspectiva crítica da
política e dos políticos na Nova República.
