Previous issue date: 2016-08-29 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The fabric of the arguments that compose the corpus of this work aim to analyse the maps of the high school textbook Fronteiras da Globalização. The specific goals of this study are the following: 1) to characterize the ancient and contemporary maps of the aforementioned textbook; 2) to check the usage of the structuring components (title, orientation, source, scale, symbols and label); 3) to unveil the use of the maps given by the authors of the studied work, following the structural, contextual and the incentives given to the readership and interpretation of those representations. In order to achieve our goals, we organized this work as follows: first, we chose the documental corpus, that provided the maps to be analysed afterwards. During the selection of the textbook we only took into consideration authors and works showing up in every edition of the Programa Nacional do Livro Didático (PNLD) since 2009. The textbook Fronteiras da Globalização, written by professors Lúcia Marina Alves and Tércio Barbosa Rigolin, was chosen in this process. Afterwards, we advanced with the following analysis procedures: a) the selection and registry analysis and classification of the cartographic representations; b) the selection of the analysis categories of the structuring components of the maps. Furthermore, we also considered the authorship, the contextualization and the theoretical and methodological proposal of the authors, as well as the map reading and interpretation axis, as suggested by professor Maria Ramos Simielli, specifically the location and analysis, the correlation and the synthesis. The analysis of our data reveals that the majority of the maps of Fronteiras da Globalização lack, at least, one of the structuring components of the map, especially the title and the name of cartographic projection used in the representation. The absence of one or several of these components brings to light an incoherence with the theoretical-conceptual approach of the scientific cartography. The analysis has also shown that the theoretical-methodological approach to these representations, regardless of them being ancient or contemporary, is still incipient, considering the incentive to reading as well as its interpretation. This research intends to contribute towards the use of the map as a useful and significative instrument and language concerning the construction of the geographic knowledge, not only from the structural viewpoint but also highlighting the contexts and the specific senses in which it acts. / A construção das argumentações que compõem o corpus desta pesquisa tem como objetivo norteador a análise dos mapas da coleção Fronteiras da Globalização, destinada aos estudantes do Ensino Médio. Este estudo pretende, em específico: 1) caracterizar os mapas antigos e contemporâneos dessa coleção; 2) verificar nesses mapas o emprego dos componentes estruturantes (título, orientação, fonte, escala, símbolos e legenda); 3) desvendar o uso dado aos mapas pelos autores da coleção, sob os aspectos estruturais, contextuais e de incentivo à leitura e à interpretação dessas representações. Para concretude da nossa investigação, organizamos o trabalho da seguinte forma: em primeiro lugar, escolhemos o corpus documental, que forneceu os mapas para serem analisados. Na seleção da coleção, levamos em consideração autor e coleção que estivesse presente em todas as edições do Programa Nacional do Livro Didático (PNLD) para o Ensino Médio, desde 2009. A partir de tal investigação, selecionamos a coleção Fronteiras da Globalização, cujos autores são os professores Lúcia Marina Alves de Almeida e Tércio Barbosa Rigolin. Após a escolha da coleção, elencamos os seguintes procedimentos de análise: a) unidades de registro e seleção e classificação das representações e b) a escolha das categorias de análise dos componentes estruturantes dos mapas. Consideramos também a autoria, contextualização e proposta teórico-metodológica de trabalho dos autores e os eixos de leitura e interpretação dos mapas, seguindo aqueles propostos pela professora Maria Ramos Simielli, ou seja, a localização e análise, a correlação e, por fim, a síntese. A análise dos dados obtidos revela que na maioria dos mapas da coleção está ausente pelo menos um dos componentes estruturants do mapa, em especial o título e o tipo de projeção cartográfica utilizada. A ausência de um ou vários desses requisitos configura uma incoerência com a abordagem teórico-conceitual da cartografia científica. A análise demonstrou, também, que a abordagem teórico-metedológica dessas representações ainda é incipiente, quanto ao incentivo à leitura e à sua interpretação, tanto para mapas antigos como contemporâneos. Esta pesquisa espera contribuir para o uso do mapa enquanto instrumento e linguagem útil e significativo na construção do conhecimento geográfico não apenas do ponto vista estrutural, mas evidenciando também os contextos e os significados específicos nos quais ele atua.
