Previous issue date: 2011-08-22 / Amongst the various manifestations of popular culture in the State of Pernambuco, the musical kind ―frevo is one of large relevance, mainly in the city of Recife. The frevo continues to maintain itself, full of fun, beauty and history and led by anonymous carnaval dancers since its beginning in the groups ―Ursos de carnaval, ―Caboclinhos, ―Bumba-meu-boi, ―Cavalo Marinho and others.
This study presents the historic and stylistic aspects of the frevo and investigates its manifestation in the cultural aspect in the main representative niches of the city of Recife, using as reference the musicians and researchers of the moment.
It highlights the work of the Escola de Frevo Maestro Fernando Borges, showing how this school has been divulging the local Popular Culture as well as educating hundreds of students in the language of music and dance the "passo" / Dentre as diferentes manifestações da cultura popular do Estado de Pernambuco, o gênero musical frevo é o que apresenta maior relevância, principalmente na cidade do Recife. Em meio aos ―Ursos de carnaval, ―Caboclinhos, ―Bumba-meu-boi, ―Cavalo Marinho e tantos outros com histórias e belezas, o frevo vem se mantendo, animando e conduzindo grupos carnavalescos e foliões anônimos desde o seu surgimento.
O presente estudo apresenta os aspectos históricos e estilísticos do frevo e investiga sua manifestação, no aspecto cultural, nos principais recantos representativos da cidade do Recife, tendo por referência músicos e pesquisadores da atualidade. Destaca o trabalho da Escola de Frevo Maestro Fernando Borges. Mostra como esta Escola tem divulgado a Cultura Popular local e como tem educado centenas de alunos nas linguagens da música e da dança - o passo
