books legitimize knowledge and specific practices, having in
mind the production of subjectivities and identifications, which
are also very specific. My objective, through the analysis of a
series of 16 scientific text books from the 6th to the 9th year of
basic education (middle or secondary school), adopted by the
schools in the northern part of the municipality of
Florianópolis, between 2000 and 2011, was to attempt to
unravel and uncover the forms and structures that the selected
discourses related to SIDA intended to produce on the students
especially in relation to feelings and emotions. For this, the
number of pages dedicated to the subject were analyzed, as
well as the titles of the chapters and units, the images, the data
presented about the history of SIDA, the concept of the disease,
the versions of the HIV virus and forms of transmission and
contagiousness. Mainly, the discursive strategies and imagery
adopted in these text books to qualify risk behavior and fear
creation were analyzed. Through the bricolage methodology, I
sought to comprehend the changes, continuity, silencing and
contradictions about SIDA/HIV found in text books during the
period studied. I was able to intersect the discourse legitimized
by the books with news reports published in different forms of
media. As a theoretical tool for analysis, I opted for the concept
of discourse, in the perspective of Cultural Studies, of
Affective Turn and of visual grammar. Among the conclusions
reached, the moral approach and control of the body can be
highlighted, where desire and pleasure are associated with risk
behavior; a direct relationship between SIDA, fear and death;
the feminization of the disease; the stigma in relation to
homosexuality, etc. / Os discursos textuais e imagéticos veiculados nos livros didáticos legitimam saberes e práticas específicas, tendo em vista a produção de subjetividades e de identificações também bastante específicas. O meu objetivo ao analisar uma série de 16 livros didáticos de Ciências do 6º ao 9º ano do ensino fundamental, adotados pelas escolas da região norte do município de Florianópolis, entre 2000 e 2011, foi o de desentranhar as gramáticas que os discursos selecionados acerca da AIDS pretendem produzir nos/as alunos/as, muito particularmente as relacionadas aos sentimentos e as emoções. Para alcançá-lo foram analisados desde o número de páginas dedicado ao tema, passando pelos títulos selecionados para os capítulos e unidades, as imagens escolhidas, os dados apresentados sobre o histórico da AIDS, os conceitos sobre a doença, até as versões sobre o vírus HIV e formas de transmissão/contágio. Foram analisadas, sobretudo, as estratégias discursivas e imagéticas adotadas pelos livros didáticos para qualificar o comportamento de risco e para a produção do medo. Através da metodologia da bricolagem busquei compreender as mudanças, continuidades, silenciamentos e contradições sobre a AIDS/HIV presentes nos livros ao longo do período estudado, entrecruzando os discursos legitimados nos livros com notícias publicadas em diferentes mídias. Como ferramental teórico para tais análises optei pelos conceitos de Discurso, na perspectiva dos Estudos Culturais, de Affective Turn e de Gramática Visual. Dentre as conclusões obtidas destacam-se a forte abordagem moral e de controle sobre o corpo presente nos livros, onde vontade e prazer são relacionados ao comportamento de risco; a relação
direta entre AIDS e morte; a feminização da doença; o estigma em relação a homossexualidade, etc.
