Previous issue date: 2006-04-26 / Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq / A field experiment was conducted in the Agrotécnica Federal de Crato School in an Oxissol to establish the dosage of chicken, cow and sheep manure that would supply the best yield of a lettuce crop. Single samples were collected in the depths of 0 – 20 cm, making a compound sample to characterize the soil. As organic fertilizers chicken, cow and sheep manure were used at the rates of 25%, 50%, 100%, 150% and 200% of the recommended dosage , in an experimental design using randomized blocks in a factorial arrangement of the order [(3 x 5) + 2], with three sources of organic matter at five levels, with two additional treatments, the first one with chemical fertilizer and the second one as an absolute control in four blocks, with one replicate per block totalizing 68 plots . After the preparation of the plots an application of the organic manures was made at the tested levels, 10 days before the transplant of the seedlings. The seedlings were planted in the spacing of 0,25m x 0,25m with the plots measuring 1,875m2 and with a useful area of 1,00m x 0,75m, with twelve plants per plot. Weeding was done when necessary and irrigation was done daily according to the crop needs. At 30 days after the beginning of the experiment the plants were harvested including the roots, when the second crop was planted , with 30 more days the third and 30 more , the fourth and 30 more the fifth crop were established . A soil sampling was made in each plot at the transplanting moment (zero time) and at 30 days of growth on the bed of each crop. In those samples the following analyses were run: organic carbon, total nitrogen, and available phosphorus and potassium. At harvest the plants fresh mass was measured by plot, and one plant was chosen for drying in an oven at 65 degrees Celsius and the dried matter by plant determined. The variables evaluated were subjected to analysis of variance, comparing the averages of the treatments by the Tukey test at the five percent probability level , and regression models were tested between the dependent variables an the levels of manure utilized. The chicken manure provided higher yields of lettuce in the first crop, being surpassed by the cow and sheep manures beginning with the second crop. In general, starting with the 100% recommendation the results are similar, with no justification of using higher dosages. In the third crop, the quality of the product was affected even at the highest dosages. / Foi conduzido um experimento na Escola Agrotécnica Federal de Crato em um latossolo vermelho-amarelo para estabelecer as doses de esterco de ave, bovino e ovino que proporcionam melhores rendimentos na cultura da alface. Foram coletadas amostras simples, na profundidade de 0 a 20cm, formando uma amostra composta para caracterização do solo. Como fertilização orgânica foram usados os estercos de ave, bovino e ovino nas proporções de 25%, 50%, 100%, 150% e 200% da dose recomendada, em um delineamento experimental em blocos casualizados com arranjo fatorial [(3 x 5 ) + 2], sendo três fontes de matéria orgânica e cinco níveis, com dois tratamentos adicionais, um com fertilizante químico e uma testemunha absoluta, em quatro blocos, com uma repetição por bloco, totalizando 68 parcelas. Após o preparo das parcelas foi realizada a aplicação dos fertilizantes orgânicos, 10 dias antes do transplantio das mudas. As mudas foram plantadas num espaçamento de 0,25m x 0,25m, com parcelas medindo 1,875m² e com uma área util de 1,00m x 0,75m, com doze plantas. Foram feitas capinas quando necessárias e a irrigação foi feita diariamente. Aos 30 dias do início do experimento foi realizada a colheita das plantas com raízes, plantando-se então o segundo cultivo da cultura, com mais 30 dias o terceiro e mais 30, o quarto e mais 30 o quinto. Foi realizada uma amostragem de solo em cada parcela no momento do transplantio (tempo zero) e aos 30 dias de cultivo no canteiro de cada cultivo. Nessas amostras foram analisados: carbono orgânico, nitrogênio total, fósforo e potássio disponível. No momento da colheita, foi medida a massa fresca das plantas por parcela, retirando-se uma planta para secagem em estufa a 65ºC e determinação da matéria seca por planta. As variáveis avaliadas foram submetidas à análise de variância comparando-se as médias dos tratamentos pelo teste de Tukey a 5% de probabilidade,sendo também testados modelos de regressão entre as variáveis dependentes e os níveis de adubos utilizados. O esterco de ave proporcionou maiores produtividades de alface no primeiro cultivo, sendo superado pelos estercos bovino e ovino, a partir do segundo cultivo. Geralmente a partir de 100% da recomendação os resultados são semelhantes, não se justificando o uso de doses superiores a esta. No terceiro cultivo a qualidade do produto foi afetada mesmo nas maiores doses.
