Previous issue date: 2016-01-29 / Chronic kidney disease is characterized by renal impairment of glomerular function, tubular and endocrine, slow, progressive and irreversible, with anemia as a major complication, whose intensity and prevalence are related to the stage of kidney disease and disability in production erythropoietin (EPO). Treatment with erythropoietin recombinant human (rHuEPO) is now used worldwide and has satisfactory response in the regulation of hemoglobin levels. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of rHuEPO in hemodialysis patients through assessment and correlation of haematological parameters erythrocyte line (red blood cells, hematocrit and hemoglobin), and biochemical (iron and ferritin). For this proposition, we evaluated two distinct groups, one test group, with 77 patients who made use of rHuEPO for three weeks, and a second control group, with 38 patients who did not use this treatment, totaling 115 people. Data were statistically analyzed in spreadsheet Microsoft Office Excel 2010 program Epi-Info 4.1, Student's t-test, and Graph Pad Prism program, version 5.0, with Pearson's chi-square correlation through SPSS, version 10.0. The considered confidence interval was 95% and significance in * p <0.05. In the group rHuEPO employed, during three weeks, there was an increase in hemoglobin from baseline in the order of 3.3% seven days; 30.6% fourteen days; and 46.9% with twenty-one days. Hematocrit increased 3.5% seven days; 30.9% fourteen days; 47.2% with twenty-one days. Red blood cells increased by 4.5% seven days; 31.8% fourteen days; and 50% with twenty-one days. The same parameters were evaluated for the group that did not rHuEPO in this, there was no statistically significant change. As for the biochemical aspects of iron and ferritin, examined in this study, there was no relevance in the two groups and no difference between them. It follows that rHuEPO is effective for the increase of hemoglobin, hematocrit and red blood cells, and that as the level of iron and ferritin were within the reference values for the two groups, an analysis of hematological parameters in the use of rHuEPO it was not compromised, reaching a variation of hemoglobin, the end of the third week of 2.92 g / dL, confirming the efficacy of treatment with rHuEPO. / A doença renal crônica é caracterizada pelo comprometimento renal da função glomerular, tubular e endócrina, de maneira lenta, progressiva e irreversível, tendo a anemia como uma importante complicação, cuja intensidade e prevalência estão relacionadas ao estágio da doença renal e à deficiência na produção de Eritropoetina (EPO). O tratamento com eritropoetina recombinante humana (rHuEPO) já é aplicado mundialmente e tem resposta satisfatória na regularização dos níveis de hemoglobina. O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar a eficácia da rHuEPO em pacientes hemodialisados, por meio de avaliação e correlação de parâmetros hematológicos da linhagem eritrocitária (hemácias, hematócrito e hemoglobina), e bioquímicos (ferro e ferritina). Para tal proposição, foram avaliados dois grupos distintos, sendo um grupo teste, com 77 pacientes, que fizeram uso de rHuEPO por três semanas, e um segundo grupo controle, com 38 pacientes que não utilizaram este tratamento, totalizando 115 pessoas. Os dados foram tabulados e analisados estatisticamente em planilha do programa Microsoft Office Excel 2010, Epi-Info 4.1, Teste t-Student, e do programa Graph Pad Prism, Versão 5.0, com correlação de Pearson Qui-quadrado, por meio do programa SPSS, versão 10.0. O intervalo de confiança considerado foi de 95% e significância em *p<0,05. No grupo que empregou rHuEPO, no decorrer de três semanas, houve aumento de hemoglobina, em relação ao basal, na ordem de 3,3% com sete dias; 30,6% com catorze dias; e 46,9% com vinte e um dias. O hematócrito aumentou 3,5% com sete dias; 30,9% com catorze dias; 47,2% com vinte e um dias. As hemácias tiveram um aumento de 4,5% com sete dias; 31,8% com catorze dias; e 50% com vinte e um dias. Os mesmos parâmetros foram avaliados para o grupo que não usou rHuEPO, neste, não houve alteração estatisticamente significativa. Quanto aos aspectos bioquímicos de ferro e ferritina, examinados nesse estudo, não foi observada relevância nos dois grupos analisados e nem diferença entre eles. Conclui-se que a rHuEPO se mostrou eficaz pelo aumento da hemoglobina, hematócrito e hemácias, e que, como o nível de ferro e ferritina, estavam dentro dos valores de referência para os dois grupos avaliados, a análise dos parâmetros hematológicos no uso de rHuEPO não foi comprometida, alcançando uma variação de hemoglobina, ao final da terceira semana, de 2,92 g/dL, confirmando a eficácia de tratamento com rHuEPO.
