Previous issue date: 2008 / The research analyzes the significances, strategies and tactics used by an administration academic, who, in a private IES (institution of higher education) in an evening course, in the mazes of time and contemporary spaces, is in search of higher education. The academic, in this context, is a working-student or student-worker that, at the University, looks for his education and through the diploma as a credential for the job market, to social ascension. In this scenery, the research problem tries to relate three central themes: the academic (workingstudent and student-worker), the concepts of “habitus”, in the light of Bourdieu's cultural capital and the dimension time and space (senses and uses). The leading problem was the sense (representation) and use (tactics and practices) of time and space by the academic (working-student and student-worker) in his daily life at the university. It is an exploratory and descriptive research which accomplishes a case study in the administration course (evening) at the Canela campus of the University of Caxias do Sul. The study is of qualitative nature and the analysis of the data is guided by the content analysis. Multi-methods were used: questionnaires, descriptions (starting from pre-defined itinerary), pictures (as support) and images created by the subjects. Among the investigated subjects the collective timespace, individual time-space and time and study space in daily life stand out. As for social time (institutional and organizational) and individual time (the choices of each individual), the plasticity of adaptation and the subjective experience of each subject when interacting with the world that surrounds him are analyzed, which affect in an intense way the action in daily life and leads to the styles of being an academic.In general lines, starting from the socioeconomic characteristics, objectives, expectations and time management, three "styles" of academics can be identified: the one Linked to Tomorrow, the one Administering the present Day and the one calmly Linked to the present Day and Tomorrow. The results reveal that the classroom occupies the center of his academic experience; it is the main time and collective space. The individual time-space is sought after and built in the organization and creativity of each subject's experience. An institutional project of insertion is evidenced and proposed for the academic, with two basic axes: Project of Life and Administration of Time (based on principles) and Learning Strategies. / A pesquisa analisa as significações, estratégias e táticas utilizadas pelo acadêmico de Administração, em uma IES particular, do curso noturno, nos labirintos de tempos e de espaços contemporâneos, em busca da formação superior. O acadêmico, neste contexto, é trabalhador-estudante ou estudante-trabalhador, que busca na Universidade, por intermédio do diploma, enquanto credencial para o mercado de trabalho, e da sua formação, à ascensão social. Neste cenário, o problema de pesquisa procura relacionar três temáticas centrais: o acadêmico (trabalhador-estudante e estudante-trabalhador) e os conceitos de habitus, capital cultural à luz de Bourdieu e a dimensão tempo e de espaço (sentidos e usos). O problema norteador foi qual o sentido (representação) e o uso (táticas e práticas) do tempo e do espaço do acadêmico (trabalhador-estudante e estudante-trabalhador) no seu cotidiano como universitário. Trata-se de uma pesquisa exploratória e descritiva, que realiza um estudo de caso na Universidade de Caxias do Sul (UCS), Unidade Canela, no curso de Administração (noturno). O estudo é de natureza qualitativa e a análise dos dados está orientada na análise de conteúdo. Houve a utilização de multimétodos: questionário, descrição (a partir de roteiro prédefinido), fotografias (como apoio) e imagens construídas pelos sujeitos. Entre as questões investigadas, destacam-se tempo-espaço coletivo, tempo-espaço individual e tempo-espaço de estudo no cotidiano. Na relação com o tempo social (institucional e organizacional) e o tempo individual (das escolhas de cada um), analisa-se a plasticidade da adaptação e da experiência subjetiva de cada sujeito ao interagir com o mundo que o rodeia, afetando de forma intensa a ação sobre o cotidiano, levando aos estilos de ser acadêmico.Em linhas gerais, pode-se identificar, a partir das características socioeconômicas, dos objetivos, das expectativas e da gestão do tempo, três “estilos” de acadêmicos: Ligado no Amanhã, Administrando o Dia de Hoje e Hoje e Amanhã com Calma. Os resultados revelam que a sala de aula ocupa o centro das suas vivências de acadêmico, é o principal tempo e espaço coletivo. O tempo-espaço individual é buscado e construído na organização e criatividade da vivência de cada sujeito. Evidencia-se e propõe-se um projeto institucional de inserção na Universidade, para o acadêmico, com dois eixos básicos: Projeto de Vida e Gerenciamento do Tempo (fundamentado em princípios) e estratégias de aprendizagem.
