Previous issue date: 2011 / The main objective of this research is to study the work of the artist Alcides Pereira dos Santos (BA 1932 Rui Barbosa - São Paulo SP 2007). In general, one can say that most of the discourse on his work until now has contributed to his painting being seen as a naive practice. Although Alcides does not deny the paradigm of representation and the relationship between model and copy that it implies, his figuration operates a deconstruction in which art is an end in itself, making his images produce a mimicry that destroys rather than preserves a model. In this sense, inspired by the thinking of Foucault, Deleuze and Nietzsche, this thesis explores the artist's pictorial art in terms of its segmentation and territoriality, and also by its sense of becoming and deterritorialisation. This movement of production of the forms of reality, proposed by these authors, shows that the dynamics of the world is like a constant struggle between forces and thereby establishes a game. However, such forces exist only in a relational state and, in the fight being waged between them, it is only possible to establish hierarchies which are always provisional. Finally, it is from this tension, this play of forces, which now contracts, now expands, that we intend to investigate the works created by the artist (from the late seventies of the last century) in the city of Cuiabá-MT and also (from the year two thousand) in Sao Paulo. To interrogate them, how and under what conditions such forces act in the production of the artist becomes, in fact, the central question that this thesis tries to answer. / Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo central estudar a obra do artista plástico Alcides Pereira dos Santos (Rui Barbosa BA 1932 – São Paulo SP 2007). Em linhas gerais, pode-se dizer que grande parte dos discursos até agora proferidos sobre sua obra contribuíram para fazer de sua pintura resultado da prática ingênua do que se vê e se olha. Ainda que Alcides não recuse o paradigma da representação e a relação entre modelo e cópia que este pressupõe, sua figuração opera uma desconstrução na medida em que os meios de criação tornam-se fins, fazendo com que sua imagem produza um mimetismo que destrói ao invés de preservar um modelo. Nesse sentido, inspirada pela lógica do pensamento de matriz foucaultiana, deleuziana e nietzscheana pretende-se, nesta tese, explorar a arte pictórica do artista a partir de suas segmentaridades, territorialidades, mas também pelos seus devires e modos de desterritorialização. Esse movimento de produção das formas da realidade, proposto por esses autores, evidencia que a dinâmica do mundo constitui-se como uma luta permanente entre forças e um jogo se estabelece aí. Todavia, tais forças só existem em estado relacional e, do combate que se trava entre elas, só é possível estabelecer hierarquias sempre provisórias. Enfim, é a partir dessa tensão, desse jogo de forças, que ora contrai, ora expande, que percorremos as obras alcidiana elaboradas (a partir do final dos anos setenta do século passado) nas cidades de Cuiabá-MT e também (a partir do ano dois mil) em São Paulo. Interrogar quais, como e em que condições tais forças atuam na produção plástica do artista passa a ser, de fato, a questão central que esta tese experimenta responder.
