La presente investigación busca describir las representaciones mentales de paternidad en parejas primerizas durante el embarazo. Se trabajó mediante la metodología cualitativa con un diseño fenomenológico con 4 parejas casadas heterosexuales entre 28 y 38 años que tuvieran entre 3 y 8 meses de embarazo del primer hijo. El instrumento utilizado fue una entrevista individual semi-estructurada con la que se pudo recoger la información. Los resultados mostraron que para los participantes la construcción de las representaciones mentales de paternidad suceden en un espacio mental, dado que aún no ha nacido el bebé, no han vivido la experiencia en sí misma, por lo que se trata de una representación en construcción. Es así que dentro del discurso emergen tres grandes ejes tanto para hombres como para las mujeres, donde el hablar de paternidad evoca la historia de la paternidad y de la pareja, la cual incluye la planificación. Además, forma parte de sus representaciones el significado que adquiere ese primer hijo y el significado del embarazo desde la visión de ellos y la visión de ellas. Finalmente, las representaciones mentales incluyen los roles que los hombres creen que deben asumir como futuros padres y los roles que las mujeres creen que sus esposos deberían asumir como futuros padres. / The present investigation seeks to describe the mental representations of paternity in first couples during pregnancy. We worked using a qualitative methodology with a phenomenological design with 4 heterosexual married couples between 28 and 38 years old that had between 3 and 8 months of pregnancy of their first child. The instrument used was a semi-structured individual interview with which the information could be collected. The results showed that for the participants the construction of the mental representations of paternity happen in a mental space, since the baby has not been born yet, they have not lived the experience in itself, so it is a representation under construction. Thus, within the discourse, three main axes emerge for both men and women, where speaking of paternity evokes the history of paternity and of the couple, which includes planning. In addition, the meaning that this first child acquires and the meaning of pregnancy from the vision of mens and women. Finally, mental representations include the roles that men believe they should assume as future fathers and the roles that women believe their husbands should assume as future fathers. / Tesis
