El objetivo de la presente investigación fue estudiar la relación que existe entre el estrés y las estrategias de afrontamiento en familiares de pacientes oncológicos de Lima Metropolitana. Se contó con 200 participantes, cuyas edades oscilaron entre 18 a 80 años de edad. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron una Ficha de datos sociodemográfica, la Escala de Estrés Percibido (González & Landero, 2007) y el Inventario Multidimensional Brief Cope (Morán, Landero & González, 2010). Tras realizar los análisis de validez y confiabilidad se encontró que ambos instrumentos presentan propiedades psicométricas aceptables. Los resultados mostraron una correlación positiva (p <.01) entre afrontamiento evitativo y estrés negativo, y afrontamiento activo y estrés positivo. Además, se encontraron diferencias significativas entre estrés negativo y sexo (p < .05), siendo las mujeres quienes reportan más estrés negativo que los hombres.
The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between stress and coping strategies in relatives of cancer patients in Lima. This study was conducted with 200 participants, whose ages ranged between 18 to 80 years old. The instruments used were a sociodemographic survey, the Perceived Stress Scale (González & Landero, 2007) and the Brief Cope Multidimensional Inventory (Morán, Landero & González, 2010). Both instruments were found to have acceptable psychometric properties. The results showed a positive correlation (p <.01) between avoidance coping and negative stress, and active coping and positive stress. In addition, statistically significant differences between negative stress and sex (p <.05) were found. Women suffer more negative stress than men. / Tesis
