Pasco es una región que tiene una amplia biodiversidad en su territorio, la cual lo hace
una región con potencial de crecimiento. Sin embargo, autoridades y gobernantes no
aprovecharon al máximo los recursos que posee la región, lo cual se refleja en el índice de
progreso social ubicándose en las últimas posiciones. La minería es la principal actividad
económica de la región. Pasco es reconocido por ser un fuerte productor de zinc, plomo y
plata para el Perú. El gobierno regional se centra en la minería debido a que el máximo
ingreso proviene del canon, descuidando actividades agrícolas, ganaderas y turísticas que
presentan gran potencial para generar importantes recursos económicos para la región.
Pasco debe lograr aprovechar sus fortalezas para vencer sus deficiencias. El gobierno
regional debe aprovechar el ingreso que obtiene por la minería y el potencial que tiene por
desarrollar para generar negocios en la región. Entre sus deficiencias, Pasco tiene un alto
grado de analfabetismo, pobreza e informalidad.
El presente planteamiento estratégico busca ser una guía de ayuda y consulta para que
Pasco logre sus objetivos de corto y largo plazo en actividades alternas a la minería con gran
potencial para desarrollarse, de tal manera que convierta a Pasco en una región competitiva
generando el bienestar socioeconómico de los pobladores. / Pasco is a region that has a wide biodiversity in its territory, which has a region with
potential for growth. However, the authorities and the governors did not take full advantage
of the resources that the region possesses, which is reflected in the index of social progress,
placing itself in the last positions. Mining is the main economic activity in the region. Pasco
is recognized as a strong producer of Zinc, Lead and Silver for Peru. The regional
government focuses on mining because is where the maximum income comes from,
neglecting agricultural, livestock and tourism activities that have great potential to generate
significant economic gains for the region.
Pasco must take advantage of its strengths to overcome its shortcomings. The regional
government should use the mining incomes and the potential it has to develop business in the
region. Among its shortcomings, Pasco has a high degree of illiteracy, poverty and
informality.
This strategic approach seeks to be a consultation and help guide for Pasco to achieve
its short and long-term objectives. This approach presents other economic activities, besides
mining, with great potential to make Pasco a competitive region generating socioeconomic
well-being for its settlers
