A hemagglutinating antigen for SLE virus was obtained in cells suspended "in vitro" incubated at 37 C at pH 7,0 to 8,0 with the optimal 7,2. The source of cell was Sarcoma 180 TG harvested from mice, and resuspended in the same ascitic fluid after inactivation at 56 C during 30 minutes. HA was recorded from the third to sixth day after seeding with the optimal between fifth and sixth day. Other two sources of cells: bovine platelets and mouse brain cells were also positive at these pH's and temperature but lower titlers were observed other eight sources of cells were all negatives.
