L'objectiu principal de la nostra tesi és exposar la dinàmica de consum de vi de les
comunitats posttalaiòtiques i clàssiques mallorquines i menorquines, analitzant les
raons de la seva introducció, com es tracta i què significa aquesta producció forana
a partir de les àmfores com a principal testimoni material.
Com a punt de partida hem plantejat el panorama històric del nostre àmbit
d'estudi, veient la dinàmica en la qual s'engloben les Illes Balears a l'antiguitat.
Abans d'abordar la problemàtica de la materialitat amfòrica, ens hem vist
obligades a repensar quin és l'objecte en el qual basem el nostre estudi, tractant
d'entendre què vol dir una àmfora i de què ens informa en cada moment de la seva
trajectòria vital.
Després de veure què són i què signifiquen, hem atès a com són els contenidors
amfòrics que documentem en l'àmbit Mallorquí i Menorquí entre segles VI ANE – I
ANE/I NE. Per abordar-ho, en primer lloc ens hem referit a les àmfores dels
diferents centres productius documentats i a les seves característiques, permetentnos
copsar l'esfera productiva de la dinàmica econòmica en la qual s'emmarquen.
Seguidament, i a partir del material procedent de Son Fornés, n'hem analitzat les
característiques compositives a partir de la realització de làmines primes que ens
permetran afinar la definició dels seus trets a nivell tècnic així com ubicar la
procedència dels diferents contenidors a partir de la seva matriu petrogràfica.
Un dels punts claus del nostre treball és l'estudi del panorama que ofereixen des
dels contextos de consum els contenidors amfòrics a partir d'anàlisi estadístics i de
criteris probabilístics; és a dir, com funcionen i com es comporten entre sí, ubicantlos
en l'espai però sobretot en el temps, creuant-los amb la vaixella ceràmica
associada. La nostra intenció en un inici era la de fer una història econòmica vers el
món dels objectes amfòrics però la indefinició crono-tipològica ens ha obligat a
dedicar més temps a l'anàlisi dels contextos i a la seva dimensió temporal.
Amb aquesta eina de treball hem abordat el jaciment de Son Fornés (Montuïri,
Mallorca) veient quina és la materialitat amfòrica que ofereix i què vol dir en
termes de consum de vi per part de la comunitat que habitava el poblat en època
posttalaiòtica i clàssica. D'aquesta realitat particular hem ampliat l'òptica per tal
d'entendre com funciona Son Fornés, primer vers les comunitats contemporànies de la resta de Mallorca i Menorca fent-la extensiva després a l'arc mediterrani
occidental en el qual s'emmarquen, copsant així el context històrico-econòmic
general. / The main goal of our Phd is to explain the dynamics of the wine consumption in the
posttalaiotic and classic communities of Majorca and Minorca, analysing the
reasons of his introduction and what this foreign production means, which
amphorae are the main material evidence.
As a starting point, we have considered the historical scope of our study by seeing
the dynamic in which the Balearic Islands are encompassed in antiquity. After that,
addressing the issue of amphoric materiality, we have been forced to rethink what
is our object of study, trying to understand what an amphora means and what it
tells us in every moment of his live.
Then, we have looked at the amphoric containers that are documented in the
Majorca and Minorca since VI BC to I AC/ I BC. To address this, firstly, we have
referred to the different production centres' amphorae documented and their
characteristics, allowing us to understand the productive sphere of the economic
cycle. Secondly, using material from Son Fornés, we have analysed the fabric
petrological characteristics of different amphoric productions, trying to define
their techniques and their original geographic location.
One of the key points of our work is to study the panorama offered from
consumption contexts with amphora containers by statistical analysis and
probabilistic criteria; that is how they work and how they behave with each other,
placing them in the space and also in the time, crossing them with majolica
associate productions. Our intention, initially, was to make an economic history
toward the world of objects but amphora chrono-typological uncertainty has
forced us to spend more time analysing the contexts and the temporal dimension.
With this tool we have approached the archaeological site of Son Fornés (Montuïri,
Majorca) looking at the amphoric materiality, seeing what it offers and what it
means in terms of the wine consumption of the community that habited the town
in posttalaiotic and classic period. Then, from this particular situation, we have
extended the perspective to understand how Son Fornés works, firstly towards
contemporary communities from the rest of Majorca and Minorca, and finally
towards the western Mediterranean, where they are framed.
