Ingeniero Agrónomo / El presente estudio se efectuó con el objetivo de evaluar el comportamiento agronómico de
tres cultivares de haba de crecimiento determinado establecidos en dos fechas de siembra
(1° de mayo y 8 de junio) de 2007, en la Zona Central de Chile. Cada fecha de siembra fue
establecida como un ensayo independiente, y cada ensayo contó con tres tratamientos
correspondiente a los cultivares Retaca, Alargá y Verde Bonita. Las mediciones fueron
realizadas sobre parámetros de crecimiento y rendimiento. Para evaluar el crecimiento se
efectuaron muestreos en los estados de inicio de floración, inicio de llenado de granos y
precosecha, determinándose en cada uno de ellos la altura de planta, número de nudos
vegetativos a primera flor, número de ramas por planta y número de nudos vegetativos y
reproductivos por cada rama y eje principal. Al momento de la cosecha se evaluó el
rendimiento en vaina y en grano por planta, además de los componentes primarios del
rendimiento como lo son el número de vainas por planta, número de granos por vaina y
peso de 100 granos verdes. Se midió además el rendimiento industrial y algunos parámetros
de calidad tales como largo y ancho de vainas y de granos comerciales, evaluándose
además visualmente el color de los granos al momento de la cosecha.
El número de nudos vegetativos, en el eje central se mantuvo estable en ambas fechas de
siembra; en cambio, parámetros como altura, nudos reproductivos en el eje principal y
nudos vegetativos y reproductivos en las ramas, sí presentaron diferencias significativas
entre las dos fechas evaluadas.
A nivel de rendimiento también se observaron diferencias significativas entre ambas fechas
de siembra, siendo la segunda fecha la que generó valores más altos, presentado diferencias
de un 14% para vainas y de 22,5% para granos. Retaca, por su parte fue el cultivar que
presentó el mayor, y significativamente mejor rendimiento en ambas fechas de siembra. / The following study aims to evaluate the effect that two sowing dates have on three
determinate growth broad bean cultivars. The research took place in Central Zone of Chile.
The dates May 1st and June 8th were used as independent for the three the cultivars, Retaca,
Alargá and Verde Bonita. Measurements were taken for the parameters of growth and
performance. The index used for growth were the onset of flowering, the onset of grain
formation and pre-harvest. For each sample, the number of vegetative knots at first flower,
the height and number of branches for each plant and the number of vegetative and
reproductive knots for each branch and main axle was measured. At harvest time, pod and
grain performance were evaluated for each plant; moreover, primary indicators of
performance, such as the number of pods per plant, number of beans per pod and weight of
100 unripe beans were also evaluated. Other evaluated parameters were industrial
performance, length and height of the pods and commercial-viability of the beans, with the
later also being evaluated on the colour they presented at harvest time.
The number of vegetative knots in the main axle remained stable for both of the two sowing
dates. Conversely, parameters such as height, reproductive knots in the main axle and
vegetative and reproductive knots of branches did present significant differences between
the two dates evaluated.
The pod and bean performance per plant presented significant differences: the second
sowing date generated significantly higher values presenting differences of 14% for pods
and 22.5% for beans. With respect to the differences between the cultivars, Retaca
presented the best optimum combination of all behaviours: it presented significant
differences to the other cultivars in both sowing date samples.
