Em estudo preliminar sobre escore químico da farinha de peixe, milho e dos farelos de soja e trigo, os aminoácidos lisina ou metionina foram determinados como primeiro aminoácido limitante. A partir das análises de composição centesimal e de aminoácidos desses quatro ingredientes foram formuladas oito dietas teste. A dieta basal foi formulada para ter 22% PB, 4100 Kcal/kg EB, 0,42% de metionina e 1,16% de lisina. Outras seis dietas, com esta mesma formulação básica, foram suplementadas com os níveis de 0,2, 0,4 ou 0,6% de metionina ou lisina. Uma oitava dieta contendo 26% de PB, 4100 Kcal/kg EB, 0,48% de metionina e 1,43% de lisina, foi usada como controle, por apresentar níveis mais elevados de aminoácidos ligados à proteína. Foi utilizado um Delineamento Inteiramente Casualizado, com oito tratamentos e três repetições. As dietas foram administradas à vontade, três vezes/dia, durante 93 dias, à 144 alevinos de pacu, com peso médio inicial de 14,98 ± 1,16 g. Analisadas por um estudo de contrastes ortogonais, as médias de ganho em peso, de eficiência de retenção de energia bruta e dos consumos alimentares para o tratamento controle mostraram-se significativamente maiores (P<0,05) que as observadas nas dietas de menor teor protéico. As médias de eficiência de retenção de proteína só foram maiores (P<0,01) para os peixes que receberam as dietas suplementadas com lisina. Os resultados de conversão alimentar, taxas de crescimento específico e de eficiência protéica, índice de consumo e proporção de proteína bruta e de extrato etéreo no ganho em peso, não mostraram diferenças significativas para os tratamentos... (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: The objective of this research was to study the effects of methionine and lysine supplementation in practical diets with low protein level, used for the initial growth of pacu. In a preliminary study on chemical score of fish meal, soybean meal, corn and wheat brans, the amino acids lysine or methionine were founded as first limiting amino acid. Based on the analyses of proximate composition and amino acids profiles of those four ingredients eight diets test were formulated . A basal diet was formulated having 22% CP, 4100 Kcal/kg GE, 0.42% of methionine and 1.16% of lysine. Other six diets, with this same basic formulation, were supplemented with 0.2, 0.4 or 0.6% methionine or lysine. An eighth diet containing 26% of CP, 4100 Kcal/kg GE, 0.48% of methionine and 1.43% of lysine, was used as control for presenting higher levels of amino acids bound to the protein. A Completely Randomized Design was used, with eight treatments and three replications. The diets were administered ad libitum, three times/day, during 93 days, to 144 pacu fingerlings, with initial medium weight of 14.98 l 1.16 g. All treatments were analyzed by a polynomial orthogonal contrasts study. The averages of weight gain, efficiency of retention of gross energy and feed intake for the control treatment, were significantly higher (P <0.05) than those observed in the smaller protein level diets. For the efficiency of protein retention, higher averages were evidenced (P <0.01) only for fish fed with the diets lysine supplemented. The feed conversion, specific growth and protein efficiency rates, consumption index and proportions of crude protein and lipids in the weight gain, did not show significant differences for the treatments.
