Para isso, observa-se o emprego das preposições a, até, em e para nas cartas das revistas brasileiras NOVA e Men's Heatlh e das revistas portuguesas Cosmopolitan e Men's Health. Desenvolve-se um estudo descritivo-comparativo entre o português brasileiro (PB) e o português europeu (PE), fundamentado nos pressupostos teórico-metodológicos da Teoria da Variação e Mudança Linguísticas (WEINREICH, LABOV, HERZOG, 1968; LABOV 1972, 1994, 2001), e em conceitos relativos a estilo (BIBER e CONRAD, 2009, ECKERT, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2008, 2016; IRVINE, 2001; LABOV, 2001a; PODESVA, 2007a, 2007b, 2011; OCHS, 1992), sexo/gênero (BUTLER, 2016; FREITAG, 2015; MENDES, 2011, 2012, 2018), identidade (BATTISTI, 2014; MENDOZA-DENTON, 2003; WOODWARD, 2014), normas linguísticas (COSERIU, 1979[1952]; BAGNO, 2003, 2011, 2012; FARACO, 2008, 2011, 2012) e gênero textual (BAKHTIN,1995, 2003; MARCUSCHI, 2002, 2007; BAZERMAN, 2007 e MARINE, 2009). A análise das cartas se dá com base em duas estratégias: (i) análise quantitativa, em que se considera a variação de preposições em situação de complementação verbal (MOLLICA, 1996; BERLINCK, 2001; GUEDES e BERLINCK, 2003; TORRES-MORAIS e BERLINCK, 2006, 2007, 2009; BERLINCK, 2011; BUENO, 2014) e (ii) análise estilística que focaliza os traços linguísticos, extraling... For this, the use of prepositions a, até, em and para in the letters of the Brazilian magazines NOVA and Men's Health and in the Portuguese magazines Cosmopolitan and Men's Health is observed.
