Utifrån tidigare kursutvärderingar för kurser som behandlar materialplanering och styrning har det framgått att det finns en brist på praktiska övningar i relation till kursens innehåll. Kollegiet Industriell ekonomi och maskin, IE/MA-kollegiet på Högskolan i Borås vill därför skapa en simulering, där studenterna får möjligheten att sätta teorin i praktik samt lära sig att handskas med ett affärssystem. Syftet med denna rapport är att skapa en förstudie inför simuleringar inom kurser som behandlar materialplanering och styrning. Målet med att skapa en förstudie är att utöka kursens praktiska övningar och förbereda studenter inför kommande utmaningar på arbetsplatsen. För att framställa en förstudie har litteraturundersökningar, kvalitativa intervjuer samt en fallstudie genomförts. Intervjuerna genomfördes med företaget Jeeves som utvecklaraffärssystemet GARP samt en representant från Industriell ekonomi och Maskin kollegiet från Högskolan i Borås. I rapporten framgår att simuleringar har hög positiv påverkan på studenters lärande. Genom att sätta teorin i praktik leder det till att studenter får en ökad kunskap i det studerade ämnet. Med tanke på att det finns en brist på praktiska övningar i kurser som behandlar materialplanering och styrning så vill lärarkollegiet utöka de praktiska övningarna i syfte om att ge studenterna möjligheten att öka kunskaperna inom både materialplanering och hur man handskas med ett affärsystem. Under utförandet av förstudien visade det sig att den viktiga delen inom materialplanering behandlas under Material- och produktionsstyrnings-verktyget i affärssystemet. För att möjliggöra en simulering krävs en god interaktion mellan leverantör och lärarkollegiet, då en grunddatabas behöver förberedas innan studenterna genomför simuleringen samt att en gemensam server behöver skapas för att möjliggöra installationen av affärssystemet. / Based on the previous course evaluations for courses that deal with material planning and control, it has emerged that there is a lack of practical exercises in relation to the course content. Therefore the board of Industrial economics and Machinery at University of Borås wants to create a simulation for the students, where students get the opportunity to put the theory into practice and learn to deal with a business system. The aim of this report is to create a feasibility study for a simulation in courses that deal with materialplanning and control. The goal of creating a feasibility study is to expand the course’s practical exercises and prepare students for future challenges at the workplace. To create a feasibility study literature surveys, qualitative interviews and a case study were conducted. The interviews were conducted with the company Jeeves, which develops the business system GARP, and a representative from the broad of Industrial economics and Machinery from the Univeristy of Borås. The report shows that simulations have many positive effects on students’ learning. By putting the theory into practice it leads to an increased knowledge in the studied subjects for the students. Given that there is a lack of practical exercises in courses that deal with materialplanning and control, the teaching staff wants to expand the practical exercises in order to give students the opportunity to increase their knowledge in both materialplanning and how to deal with a business system. During the performance of the feasibility study, it turned out that the important part of the material and production planning deals under the tool called Material Planning and production management in the business system. To enable a simulation, a good interaction between the supplier and the teaching staff is required and a basic database needs to be prepared before the students carry out the simulation. To enable the installation of the business system a common server needs to be created.
