Syftet med studien är att undersöka möjligheter och utmaningar med att implementera agil projektledning i samhällsbyggnadsbranschen. Studien har analyserat agila metoder och studerat ett företags nuvarande projektledningstekniker för att undersöka om en agil projektledningsmetod kan implementeras. Studien har även identifierat potentiella hinder och möjligheter som kan uppstå vid implementeringen. Arbetet är begränsat till idé- och förstudiefasen och har utförts inom ett specifikt företag inom samhällsbyggnadsbranschen. Genomförandet av implementeringen har inte undersökts. Studien utgår ifrån kvalitativa intervjuer av personer med ledande positioner. Utifrån den empiriska data som tagits fram studeras organisationens uppbyggnad, den nuvarande arbetsmetodiken samt den interna och externa kommunikationen. Även flexibiliteten och attityd till förändring samt vikten av dokumentation och kontrakt har studerats. Empirin indikerar på att företaget delvis arbetar enligt den traditionella metoden utifrån en hierarkisk struktur, Omfattade dokumentation, kontraktsförhandlingar och detaljerad planering. Analysen och diskussionen konstaterar att implementeringsmöjligheterna av agil projektledning är begränsade på grund av de hinder som finns inom branschen. Detta eftersom branschen kännetecknas av ett traditionellt synsätt med en tydlig hierarkisk struktur, betoning på kontrakt och omfattande dokumentation. Trots dessa utmaningar finns en möjlighet inom följande områden att arbeta mot en mer agil riktning. Kontinuerlig kommunikation och kundsamarbete är två områden där möjligheten för ett agilt arbete finns. Att analysera orsaken till framgång och misslyckande samt att skapa handlingsplaner för förbättring är även en möjlighet för det agila arbetssättet. Då branschen är traditionell och företaget främjar flexibilitet och kundsammarbete bedöms den mest lämpliga metoden vara en hybridmetod som kombinerar traditionella och agila projektledningstekniker. Detta gör det möjligt att bibehålla den traditionella metodens tydliga struktur och rollfördelning, samtidigt som den agila lärans flexibilitet och anpassningsförmåga nyttjas. / The purpose of the study is to investigate the opportunities and challenges of implementing agile project management in the civil engineering industry. The study has analyzed agile methods and studied a company's current project management techniques to investigate whether an agile project management method can be implemented. The study has also identified potential barriers and opportunities that may arise during implementation. The work is limited to the idea and pre-study phase and has been carried out within a specific company in the civil engineering sector. The practical implementation has not been investigated. The study is based on qualitative interviews with people in leading positions. Based on the empirical data obtained, the structure of the organization, the current working methodology and the internal and external communication are studied. The flexibility and attitude to change and the importance of documentation and contracts have also been studied. The empirical data indicates that the company partly works according to the traditional method based on a hierarchical structure, including documentation, contract negotiations and detailed planning. The analysis and discussion conclude that the implementation possibilities of agile project management are limited due to the barriers that exist in the industry. This is because the industry is characterized by a traditional approach with a clear hierarchical structure, emphasis on contracts and extensive documentation. Despite these challenges, there is an opportunity in the following areas to work towards a more agile direction. Continuous communication and customer collaboration are two areas where the opportunity for agile working exists. Analyzing the cause of success and failure and creating action plans for improvement is also an opportunity for the agile approach. Since the industry is traditional and the company promotes flexibility and customer collaboration, the most suitable method is a hybrid method that combines traditional and agile project management techniques. This makes it possible to maintain the clear structure and division of roles of the traditional method, while taking advantage of the flexibility and adaptability of agile learning.
