Department of work- and public health science. The academy of health and working life. University of Gävle, Sweden.   Purpose: The purpose was to study the potential obstacles and opportunities in the work of promoting health among unemployed and support them to a job. The research questions were: How is health promoted practically in supporting unemployed, what are the obstacles and opportunities do the project staff encounter, how is the project organized and what future visions do the project staff have regarding the project. Method: The method used was a qualitative interview study with a semi-structured form for the interview questions. The studied project was in the middle of Sweden. Based on a convenience selection, four managers was selected from the project and was interviewed. Results: The study showed that potential obstacles regarding the job was, according to the respondents, language barriers, competence weighed against job market and the lack of health among the unemployed. In the result there were also opportunities that the respondents work with physical activity was used as a natural work in promoting health among unemployed. Conclusion: Physical activity and education in language was considered important in the work of promoting health among unemployed. This provided a greater possibility to enter the job market.
