Undervisning i källkritiskt tänkande : En enkätstudie om gymnasieelevers uppfattningar gällande den undervisning de fått inom ämnet samhällskunskap angående källkritiskt tänkande.

This essay aims to study perceptions about the quality of teaching that upper secondary school students have received in source-critical thinking within the various civics science courses in upper secondary school. To investigate this, a survey was first conducted among the students and then structured interviews were conducted to clarify the results of the survey. The background to this survey lies in the facts that a lot of the world’s information is available in your own smartphone, for good and for bad. Then knowledge is needed in how we tackle this facts and then on the horizon of the civics subject. Civics is one of the subjects in the upper secondary school that has the largest focus on teaching critical-thinking. From this assignment, the subject is to provide the conditions for the students to become good citizens of society. Those who are best suited to respond to the experiences of teaching must be those for whom the school is still available, ie the students. The results of the study showed that the students felt that the teaching they received in critical thinking of sources is good enough. Both regarding quality and quantity. Furthermore, the students consider that they use the knowledge of critical thinking of sources in their everyday lives. Teaching is also so good that students do not think they see any major need for improvements in the teaching that is conducted in critical thinking of sources. Regarding the abilities that the students should be given the opportunity to develop in critical thinking of source, those who participated in the study consider that the abilities, there is development potential, although then rating in the survey is also good. The respondents in the survey claim that they make frequent use of critical thinking of sources in everyday life, but there is an indication among the answers that critical thinking of sources is most often used when some news is published properly and gets a quick disseminating. Even when the respondents suspect that it is so called ”fake news” in progress, they take their acquired knowledge in critical thinking of sources, but as I said, the answers here do not provide as clear an indication as the answers to the two other questions of the essay.Previous research has found similar results to this study. The students have great confidence in their knowledge of critical thinking, but that they are selective in the use of the knowledge.
