Discussions regarding apartment buildings built 1965-1975 during the ”Million Home Programme” are often focused on uniformity, unfortunate building technology and general poor condition. There is a common perception that the lessons learnt from the programme is that this type of building technology carries problems. The houses as such are thus inappropriate designs. This report has focused to investigate Järva area’s constitution of houses built during this period. The question this report has researched is whether the buildings aside from aesthetics also have uniform building technology within the respective building types. By implementing a control group and investigating drawings from initial construction, interviewing property owners in the area and researching historic building technology, a different conclusion can be drawn. Appendix A, attached at the end of this report, constitutes the investigation of building technology used in the control group. The investigation shows that, regardless though a lot of the building technology is shared, many of the buildings within the same category differ on detail solution level. The solutions that are often viewed as unfortunate are rather assessed as being so due to a lack of knowledge in required maintenance. Ongoing maintenance and renovation of the Järva area’s properties is also under way, but is limited by factors concerning financing. These renovations are however reportedly not made in order to fix previous unfortunate solutions, but rather to address the end of technical service life of the buildings various technical systems. / Diskussioner kring bostadshus byggda 1965-1975 under det s.k. ”Miljonprogrammet kretsar ofta kring uniformitet, olycklig byggteknik och dåligt skick. Det finns en allmän uppfattning om att lärdomarna man ska bära med sig är att byggnadstekniken medför problem, och att husen som sådana har olämpliga konstruktioner. I detta arbete har Järvaområdets bestånd av hus byggda under miljonprogrammet undersökts. Frågan som har ställts är om husen bortsett från det estetiska i realiteten har uniformell byggteknik eller om byggtekniken varierar inom olika hustyper. Genom att implementera en kontrollgrupp av fastigheter och undersöka byggnadstekniska ritningar från nybyggnation och ombyggnation, intervjua fastighetsägare i området samt granska litteratur kring historisk byggnadsteknik ges en annan bild än den vedertagna. Bilaga A som bifogas i slutet på denna rapport utgör den byggnadstekniska utvärdering som gjorts på denna kontrollgrupp. Undersökningen visar att även om mycket byggteknik delas, så skiljer sig ofta detaljer, även inom samma byggnadstyp. De lösningar som ibland anses olyckliga bedöms snarare vara ansedda så med anledning av en bristande kunskap till det underhåll som lösningen kräver. Underhåll och renovering är även pågående inom Järvaområdet, men begränsas av faktorer som beror budgetering. Dessa är enligt uppgift inte främst för att åtgärda tidigare olyckliga lösningar, utan snarare utgången teknisk livslängd på byggnadernas tekniska system.
