Bakgrund: Valet av distributionsstruktur har en betydande roll på hur ett företag presterar, där strukturen ska spegla strategin. Beslutet påverkar bland annat tre olika perspektiv; logistikkostnader, leveransservice och miljöpåverkan. Tillsammans utgör de grunden för ett företags försörjningskedja. Det finns dock inte en standardlösning som kan tillämpas på alla företag. Därför kan ett ramverk utformas som rangordnar olika aspekter som påverkas av distributionsstrukturen. Ramverket kan sedan appliceras på ett specifikt företag och utifrån deras preferenser skapa förbättringsförslag. Syfte: Syftet med studien är att analysera och lyfta fram förbättringsförslag åt Trelleborg Sealing Profiles gällande deras distributionsstruktur. Ett teoretiskt ramverk utformas för att förbättra beslutsunderlaget vid val av distributionsstrukturer med senareläggning av kundanpassade produkter med avseende på kostnader, leveransservice och miljöpåverkan. Ramverket tillämpas på fallföretagets nuvarande distributionsstruktur för att sedan jämföra de olika distributionsalternativen utifrån ramverkets aspekter. Studien avslutas med förbättringsförslag till TSPs distributionsstruktur baserade på det teoretiska ramverket. Tillvägagångssätt: Studien som genomförts är en fallstudie på Trelleborg Sealing Profiles i Värnamo. Genom observationer, semi-strukturerade och ostrukturerade intervjuer har relevant data samlats in och på så vis har fallföretagets nuläge visualiserats i form av en processkarta och en supply chain map. Därefter har ett teoretiskt ramverk utformats för val av distributionsstruktur och hur valet påverkar de olika perspektiven logistikkostnader, leveransservice och miljöpåverkan. Slutligen appliceras ramverket på företaget och tillsammans med olika beräkningar har förbättringsförslag utifrån analysen presenterats. Slutsats: Baserat på resultatet av studien kan det konstateras att det finns stora fördelar att implementera direktleverans för alla skarvade artiklar. Ur ett kostnadsperspektiv finns det goda besparingsmöjligheter gällande hanteringskostnader, lagringskostnader och administrativa kostnader. Däremot förväntas transportkostnaderna att öka ifall goda avtal med externa transportörer inte lyckas förhandlas fram. Ur ett leveransservice perspektiv är direktleverans fördelaktigt då bland annat ledtiden är kortare och högre flexibilitet uppnås. Däremot förväntas trafik- och transport arbetet bli större vid direktleverans eftersom transporternas kapacitetsutnyttjande blir sämre och därmed orsakar en större miljöpåverkan. / Background: The choice of distribution structure has a significant role in how a company performs and should reflect the chosen business strategy. The decision affects among many things, three different perspectives, logistic costs, delivery service and environmental impact. Together they constitute the company’s supply chain. However a standard solution which is applicable to all companies does not exist, therefore a framework is developed which ranks the different aspects that are affected by the distribution structure. The framework is then applicable to a specific company and can be used to create suggestions for improvement based on their preferences and needs. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze and present suggestions for improvement in regards to the distribution structure of Trelleborg Sealing Profiles. A theoretical framework is developed for the purpose of improving decision making during the choice of distribution structures with a postponement strategy in regards to costs, delivery service and environmental impact. The framework is applied to the case company’s current distribution structure in order to compare the different distribution alternatives. The study is concluded with suggestions of improvement for the current distribution structure of Trelleborg Sealing Profiles based on the theoretical framework. Methodology: The conducted study is a case study of Trelleborg Sealing Profiles in Värnamo. Data has been collected through observations, semi-structured and unstructured interviews in order to visualize the current situation in the form of a process map and a supply chain map. Thereafter a theoretical frame work was developed for the choice of distribution structure and to predict how the choice of distribution affects the different perspectives; logistic costs, delivery service and environmental impact. Lastly, the framework is applied to the company and together with different calculations, suggestions for improvement have been presented. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it can be noted that there are great advantages of implementing direct shipping for all spliced goods. From a cost perspective there are major savings opportunities in regards to handling costs, warehousing costs and administrative costs. On the other hand it is expected that transport costs will increase unless advantageous contracts with external forwarders are negotiated. From a delivery service perspective, distribution through direct shipping is advantageous as it leads to shorter lead times and greater flexibility. However, direct shipping will result in lower fill rate, as the capacity utilization is decreased and contributes to a higher environmental impact.
