Spelar några kvinnliga nyanser bland en stor grupp av män någon roll? : En komparativ studie av Markaryd- och Ljungby kommuner från 1971 till millennieskiftet / Does a couple of female nuances matter among a big group of men? : A comparative study of Markaryd and Ljungby municipalities from 1971 to the turn of the millennium

About a hundred years ago, Sweden became a democracy when women could vote. But what has happened since then? This study aims to investigate how the democratization process has developed with a gender perspective and in a municipal context. Through using political protocols and comparing two municipalities, Markaryd and Ljungby, gender distribution and women´s influence in political decisions from 1971 to 2000 will be studied. Some main result is that representation of women increased during the period of investigation. As this happened, women started to make more claims in the municipality councils. Moreover, the female presence in political parties can be understood through a context of popularity. If a party´s popularity increases, so does the representation of women.
