Klarinettinterpretation i praktiken : Verktyg för instudering

This thesis is about an analysis of the process of interpreting and playing the solo part of Louis Spohr’s clarinet concerto.. It started out as a project focusing on the similarities between craftsmen and musicians. The results from the interviews did not show any methods I could use in my work as a clarinetist. Therefore the project took a different turn. Instead of studying the methods craftsmen use to prepare their projects, I started looking at different ways of preparing Louis Spohrs’ clarinet concerto no 2. This new approach proved successful, since I’ve worked on this subject before and knew what to look for. Even though the results of the research didn’t show me what I had expected, it still gave me a better view on music and my own and other musicians’ flaws and strengths. I focused a lot on interpreting the work without any considerations what so ever on the interpretation process. After a lunch concert with me playing the Louis Spohr concerto about half time into the project, I started studying other aspects of the concerto and found a lot of material to work on and develop. A part of the research process also shows some details that were new to me, even though I’ve played the piece for months.
