Fokus kommer ligga på hur arbetssättet har förändrats för redovisningsekonomen samt hurdigitaliseringen har förändrat den kompetens redovisningsekonomens bör besitta. Genom att undersöka detta kan vi komma fram till de möjligheter och utmaningar digitaliseringen harskapat för redovisningsekonomerna. Metod: Denna studies empiriska material har samlats in via en kvalitativ metod i form av sex semistrukturerade intervjuer. Urvalet av respondenter bestod av sex redovisningsekonomer från olika företag. Slutsats: Studiens slutsats är att digitaliseringen har förändrat redovisningsekonomensarbetssätt genom att det har blivit mer kostnads- och tidseffektivt och flexibelt genom att arbetekan utföras hemifrån och inte enbart på kontor. Ytterligare finns det delade meningar om huruvida digitaliseringen har förändrat redovisningsekonomens kompetenskrav. Focus will be on how the working methods has changed for the accountingeconomist and how digitization has changed the skills that the accounting economist should possess. By examining this, we can come to a conclusion of which opportunities and challenges digitalization has created for the accounting economist.Method: The empirical material of this study has been collected via a qualitative method in the form ofsix semi-structured interviews. The sample of respondents consisted of six accounting economists from sixdifferent companies.Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that digitalization has changed the accountant economist working methods by becoming more cost and time efficient and flexible because they have the ability towork at home and not only at the office. Furthermore, there are shared opinions about whether digitalizationhas changed the competence needs of accountant economics or not. On the one hand, there are opinions about the competence needs becoming higher and on the other hand there are opinions about it becominglower.
