Bakgrund: Många barn är i stort behov av palliativ vård värden över. Palliativ vård handlar om att lindra lidande och förbättra livskvalitén för barn och deras familjer i livets slutskede. Sjuksköterskor finns med barnet under hela behandlingstiden vilket gör att de har en central roll i att vårda barn i livets slutskede. Syftet: Syftet med denna studie var att belysa sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda barn inom den palliativa vården. Metod: En kvalitativ litteraturstudie som följde Polit & Becks niostegsmodell har använts. Kvalitativa originalartiklar har analyserats enligt Braun & Clarke tematiska analys. Resultat: Fyra subteman och två teman identifierades. Första två subteman var: att anpassa kommunikationen samt att hantera känslor med tillhörande tema: hinder och möjligheter. De andra två subteman var: att få stöd och att ge stöd med tillhörande tema: behov av stöd. Slutsats: Palliativ vård för barn innebär en komplex vårdsituation, en känslomässigt påfrestande arbetsmiljö och svårigheter att acceptera ett barns död bland sjuksköterskor. Palliativ vård innebär lidande för barn, familjer och sjuksköterskor. Kunskap, utbildning och erfarenhet kan bidra till att sjuksköterskor bättre kan hantera denna känslomässigt påfrestande arbetsmiljö samt förbättra omvårdnaden för barnet och dess familj. / Background: Many children are in great need of palliative care worldwide. Palliative care is about alleviating suffering and improving the quality of life for children and their families at the end of life. Nurses are with the child throughout the treatment period, making them a key player in caring for children at the end of life. Aim: The aim of this study was to highlight nurses' experiences of caring for children in palliative care. Method: A qualitative literature review following Polit & Beck's nine-step model was used. Original qualitative articles were analyzed according to Braun & Clarke thematic analysis. Results: The first two sub-themes were: adjust the communication and manage with emotions with the associated theme: barriers and opportunities. The second two sub-themes were: getting support and giving support with the associated theme: need of support. Conclusion: Palliative care for children involves a complex care situation, an emotionally stressful work environment and difficulties in accepting the death of a child among nurses. Palliative care involves suffering for children, families and nurses. Knowledge, education and experience can help nurses better manage this emotionally stressful environment and improve the care of the child and family.
