This thesis examines the representation of LGBTQIA+ persons in chapters on the theme ”love” from textbooks for the course English 6. I have chosen material from before and after the 2011 reformation of the Swedish upper secondary school to compare whether there are any similarities and/or differences in how people's sexual orientations and romantic interests are presented. I have examined my material from a queer theoretical point of view using discourse analysis as well as content analysis and multimodal method in order to answer my research questions. The results show that LGBTQIA+ persons have little to no representation in my chosen material, and that there is no clear correlation between older textbooks and the lack of such representation.
