The taut string methodology adapted to correlated and bivariate curves

The taut string and the multiresolution criterion methodology has been proven by Davies and Kovac (2001) [14], to be effective in the univariate i.i.d. Gaussian noise curve estimation problem in finding simple approximations with attractive modality properties. In this thesis we propose to extend the problem to correlated noise and also to noisy bivariate observations.
