This thesis explains basic concepts associated with immigration, theories of migration and basic models of immigration policies. It deals with historical continuity, legislature and trends in the sphere of international migration in Europe. Than it is engaged in historical continuity of immigration to the Czech republic, state policy of the Czech republic in the sphere of migration, legislature and its historical changes and instruments for attracting of immigrants to the Czech republic. The thesis analyses development and present condition of international immigration to the Czech republic, number of immigrants, citizenship, purpose-of-residence, age structure, economic activity and spatial allocation on territory of the Czech republic. Furthermore, it focuses on economics and demographics impacts of immigration. This thesis realizes situation in the Czech republic and in its individual regions. At the conclusion it interprets and resumes results.
