La présente étude se donne pour objectif d'analyser l'œuvre de Michel Butor à la lumière du mythe de Babel. Selon lui, la destruction de l'unité linguistique originelle se révèle être une bénédiction pour la littérature. Deux notions primordiales et interdépendantes émanent dès lors de la très vaste œuvre de cet auteur : la (re)lecture qui vient nourrir tout travail d'écriture, ainsi que le voyage qui la transforme et fait d'elle une écriture mobile. C'est cette démarche qui fait de Butor un écrivain de l'interculturalité, qui modifie la pluralité de la Babel primitive en une bénédiction pour celle du XXe siècle. Nous avons également opté pour une lecture mobile, à travers une multiplicité d'ouvrages, qui, de la source autobiographique aux collaborations avec les artistes, et des lieux, pays ou monuments aux livres-objets, ne cessent d'être perçus comme des rencontres, favorisant la construction d'une nouvelle Tour de Babel. Son identité repose sur la différence et la diversité, ainsi que sur l'ouverture et l'inachèvement, à travers le dialogue des cultures. / The study aims to analyze Michel Butorís work by the light of the myth of Babel. According to him, the destruction of the original linguistic unity shows to be a blessing for the literature. Two essential and interdependent notions emanate from then on from the very vast work of this author : the (re)reading which comes to feed any work of writing, as well as the travel which transforms it and makes it a mobile writing. This initiative makes Butor an intercultural writer, who modifies the plurality of primitive Babel in a blessing for that of the 20th century. We have also opted for a mobile reading, through a multiplicity of works, which, from the autobiographical source to the collaborations with the artists, and from the places, countries or monuments to the books objects, donít stop being perceived as meetings, that facilitate the construction of a new Tower of Babel– whose identity bases on the difference and the variety, as well as the opening and the incompletion, through the dialogue of the cultures.
