[pt] O objetivo desta pesquisa foi elaborar um glossário português-inglês de termos compostos em cardiologia, com o auxílio de ferramentas eletrônicas de processamento de corpus baseadas em tecnologia de orientação automática. A motivação surgiu da verificação da escassez de material de consulta para tradutores e intérpretes na área médica em língua portuguesa e também da grande freqüência de ocorrência de termos compostos em medicina. O corpus desta pesquisa consistiu em vários artigos de uma revista científica mensal bilíngüe escritos originalmente em português por cardiologistas e traduzidos para o inglês pela pesquisadora, perfazendo um total de 21.872 palavras. Diferentes critérios de identificação de compostos foram utilizados, gerando uma lista em ordem alfabética com 271 termos, aos quais foram acrescentadas as traduções que constam dos textos publicados na revista acima referida. Daí resultou o glossário português-inglês com 271 termos compostos em cardiologia. A pesquisadora tece considerações sobre terminologia, disciplina que fundamentou a pesquisa, e sua relação com a tradução. / [en] This research aimed at developing a Portuguese-English glossary of compound terms in cardiology with the aid of electronic tools for corpus processing based on automation technology. The scarcity of reference material available for translators and interpreters in the medical area in Portuguese and the great frequency of occurrence of compound terms in the medical language motivated this research. The 21,872-word corpus consisted of several articles published in a monthly bilingual Brazilian scientific periodical, which is originally written in Portuguese by cardiologists and translated into English by the researcher. Different criteria were used for selecting the compound terms, yielding a 271-compound list in alphabetical order. Each term's corresponding English translation published in the scientific magazine was added to the list. The result was a Portuguese-English glossary with 271 compound terms in cardiology. Considerations on terminology, which served as basis for the research, and its relation to translation are provided.

Questo lavoro presenta uno studio comparativo dei principali caratteri della terminologia specialistica della Smart City in lingua francese, italiana e inglese, e si propone di approfondire la conoscenza dell’ambito disciplinare in analisi. Viene adottato un modello descrittivo ampio, fondato su diversi approcci metodologici. Lo studio è articolato in tre parti, precedute da una premessa dedicata all’analisi diacronica del termine urbanisme. La prima sezione ha lo scopo di delineare e definire il concetto di Smart City, con particolare riguardo alle motivazioni dell’emergere di tale modello urbano all’inizio del XXI secolo, ai principali soggetti coinvolti nella sua realizzazione e al contenuto semantico-retorico che nel tempo ha acquisito l’aggettivo smart, epiteto tutt’altro che neutro o alla moda. Successivamente vengono esaminate la neologia specialistica e le politiche linguistiche romanze: dopo i riferimenti teorici, si procede alla verifica delle potenzialità neologiche delle lingue francese e italiana in relazione alle neoformazioni inglesi nel settore specifico della Smart City. Infine, la terza parte è dedicata alla costruzione di una risorsa terminologica – un glossario plurilingue, allegato al lavoro – intesa come contributo alla definizione e alla divulgazione del concetto di Smart City. In conclusione, si ripercorrono i risultati salienti della ricerca e si delineano ulteriori prospettive di indagine. / This work presents a comparative study of the main features of Smart City terminology in French, Italian and English, and it aims at deepening the knowledge of the disciplinary field analysed. A broad descriptive model is adopted, based on several methodological approaches. The study is divided into three parts, preceded by a preface with the diachronic analysis of the French term urbanisme. The first section aims at outlining and defining the Smart City concept, with particular emphasis on the causes of the emergence of this urban model at the beginning of the 21st century, its main stakeholders, and the semantic-rhetoric content of the adjective smart, which is far from being a neutral or fashionable label. Then, terminological neology and normalization in the Romance languages are investigated: the theoretical framework is followed by the study of the neological potential of French and Italian compared to the new English terms appearing in the Smart City domain. Finally, the third part focuses on realizing a terminological resource – a multilingual glossary, in annex – which is designed as a contribution to the definition and dissemination of the Smart City concept. The conclusion includes the main research outcomes and further perspectives of study.

La ricerca intende illustrare le modalità applicative attraverso le quali si possono esprimere in lingua cinese le terminologie specialistiche dei campi tecnici e scientifici del XXI secolo. Un percorso che attraversa la storia delle scienze in Cina dal terzo secolo a.C. fino ai nostri giorni, ricostruisce le regole che passo dopo passo, non senza deviazioni e ripensamenti, gli studiosi cinesi hanno stabilito per creare e gestire le loro “parole” composte con innumerevoli caratteri, gli hanzi, simbolo della cultura e della civiltà cinese, icone che ancora oggi “parlano” ai lettori, espressioni grafiche di oggetti e di concetti. La presentazione dell'opera di Feng Zhiwei, uno tra i maggiori esponenti della terminologia cinese contemporanea, ci accompagna nell'approfondimento degli orientamenti degli studi terminologici cinesi e nel confronto con quelli euro americani, a partire dagli studi svolti da Eugen Wüster all'inizio del XX secolo. L'analisi della terminologia cinese nella tecnologia del fotovoltaico e nel mondo economico-finanziario, costituisce il terreno di verifica delle pratiche terminologiche in essere nella lingua cinese e delle tendenze nella costruzione neologica e neonimica. / This research aims to illustrate the methodes used for creation of the specialized terminologies in the technical and scientific fields in the XXI century’s Chinese language. A pathway crossing the history of sciences in China from the III century B.C. until our days, reconstructs the rules that step after step the Chinese scholars have established in order to create and manage their “words” with the lot of characters, the hanzi, symbol of the Chinese culture and civilization, icons that still today “speak” to the readers, graphical expressions of objects and concepts. The presentation of the work of Feng Zhiwei, one among the greatest exponents of the contemporary Chinese terminology, is our guideline in a close examination of the Chinese terminological studies’ orientations, in comparison with the euro-americans ones, starting from the studies developed by Eugen Wüster at the beginning of the XX century. The analysis of the Chinese terminology in the photovoltaic technology and in the economic-financial world, constitutes the ground of verification of the actual terminological practices in the Chinese language and the tendencies in the neological and neonymical construction.
