The study of taipei financial centre by cluster

Abstract The major economic competition is industry cluster, for example: Italy¡¦s shoemaking, North Carolina¡¦s house furnishings, Germany¡¦s chemical industry, UK¡¦s financial service industry. In Taiwan, Hsinshu Science Park and Taichung¡¦s machinery industry show strong competition. In sum, It provides access to more suppliers and customized support services, to experienced and skilled labor pools, and to the inevitable transfer of knowledge that occurs where people casually meet and talk business. Concentration, or clustering, gives businesses an advantage over more isolated competitors. Clustering enables companies to focus on what they know and do best; they need not do things they do not do well. Companies able to operate more or less as a system can use their resources more efficiently and collectively produce more than the sum of their individual outputs. Jacobs(1985) referred that the relevant geographical unit from a clustering point of view is not the nation but rather the city/region. core metropolitan areas in particular are the well-spring of economic dynamism and innovation, and exert a profound influence on the prosperity of the nations in which they are located. Wang Guo Gang (2003)also referred, there are many financial institutions and securities firms and in financial centre, it also borrowed or lent money across countries. In 21 century, global economic situation changed quickly, and Taiwan faced the challenge of Asia Pacific Zone¡¦s economic grew and integrated quickly. It is far influence to develop international commerce between Mainland China and Taiwan. The government draw up economic construction plan to make economical development breakthrough. It has the blueprint of Taipei finical centre, the fund could in-out freely, and build financial system of international standard. The study would analysis financial industry space distribution by location quotient. And it concluded eight important variable (infrastructure, human resources, knowledge resources. capital resource, market demand, group learning, related and supporting industries, government )by industry cluster theory and Asia financial centres(Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai). Analysis of temporal and spatial variations of Taiwan Strait water

The water masses in the Taiwan Strait (TS) contain the Kuroshio Branch Water (KBW), the South China Sea Surface Water (SCSSW), and the China Coastal Water (CCW). The seasonality of their temporal and spatial variations is modified by the East Asia monsoon and the bottom topography. Hydrographic data acquired during 1985-2003 were studied using a cluster analysis for the classification of the water masses. In addition to the three water masses identified previously, the cluster analysis further classified the Subsurface Water (SBW) under 100 m depth in the Penghu Channel (PHC) and the Coastal Water (CW) along the China coast in summer. Results derived from the cluster analysis together with the T-S diagram suggest that the KBW and SBW dominates in the PHC, whereas CCW occupies in the north TS from January to April. After May, the SCSSW replaces the KBW in the TS through PHC. Meanwhile, the CW distributes along the northwest bank of the TS. After the onset of northeast monsoon in October, the CCW intrudes southward to the northern TS, yet the KBW is confined in the PHC. A zonal oceanic front is clearly seen between the two water masses over the Chang-Yuen Rise in winter. As for the NTMW, it presents below 30 m depth during May and September, and would distribute in depths 0-100 m in other months. The monthly hydrographic databank established in this study has a horizontal grid resolution of 10'x10'. The vertical levels are set at depths 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 125, 150, and 200 m. The study also concludes that there is hardly a northward flow in the TS in winter connecting the South China Sea Warm Current to the so-called Taiwan Warm Current.

A Double-Manager K-hop Clustering Algorithm in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

With rapidly development of wireless network technology in the past few years, hand-held devices can connect to Internet everywhere conveniently by equipped with wireless card. IEEE 802.11 defined two types of wireless networks: infrastructure networks and ad hoc networks. Since ad hoc networks are a kind of networks without access points, efficient routing is an important issue for these networks. A more efficient routing approach involves dividing the network into several clusters by using a clustering algorithm. The purpose of this paper is to investigate a hybrid cluster routing algorithm in mobile ad hoc networks. This investigation proposed a double-manager K-hop clustering algorithm based on the link evaluation. This algorithm not only can elect a more suitable node as the cluster head but also can reduce the overhead of the managers. Furthermore, this study devised maintenance and backup mechanisms to stabilize network performance in the face of network topology changes. The simulation results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm outperforms other clustering algorithm in terms of number of clusters, routing overhead of managers and cluster stability.

The Study of Industrial Cluster and Regional Economic Development in Zhejiang

Industrial cluster is a geographical phenomenon in the process of industrial development. It means in a certain field, related enterprises and organizations gather together in a certain region and form an organic system with intact upstream, middle stream, and downstream structures. With support of suburban industry system, such system has formed the engines of regional economic development. After open policy and economic reformation, Zhejiang Province has achieved a great accomplishment in both economic and social development. Zhejiang Province is also one of the fast growing and the most vigorous provinces in Mainland China. The key features, like ¡§Small merchandise, big market¡¨, ¡§Small enterprise, big cluster¡¨, ¡§Small region, big industry¡¨, etc., in this region have aroused public interests and concerns. In this thesis, we explore the issue of industrial cluster and its relationship to regional economic development and growth in Zhejiang Province. The analysis of the issue is based primarily upon the theoretical arguments and secondary empirical evidence. Research suggests that agglomeration economies at the cluster level influence the competition more profoundly, and the agglomeration economies further to affect the whole region.

Use of Parallel Computing Techniques to Search for Perfectly Orthogonal Complementary Codes

Because using the perfect orthogonal code in CDMA system means elimination of multi-path interference and multiple access interference, we will discuss this aspect in this thesis. At first, we address a algorithm to how to search a flock of perfect orthogonal code, which consisting of many codes have a characteristic of perfect auto-correlation and perfect cross-correlation to each other. Following, we will compare perfect orthogonal code we find with the present complementary codes include complete complementary code (CCC), super complementary code (SCC), and two-dimensional orthogonal variable spreading code (2D-OVSF code). Considering that the run time of searching perfect orthogonal code is long in case of high processing gain (PG), we construct a PC cluster based Linux O.S or Windows O.S for the operation of parallel program to faster our production of perfect orthogonal code.

Design and Implementation of a Load Balancing Web Server Cluster

The Internet has become popular and many traditional services have changed into web service stage by stage. The web server with single architecture is no longer satisfying a large number of user requests and the cluster-based web server architecture becomes another suitable solution. Dispatch mechanism play an important role in web server cluster and there are many load balancing policies have been proposed recently. But, these research has only simulation, performance of these policies operate in a real system is unknown. In these simulation all has an assumption that web traffic is heavy-tailed distribution. However, in our experience, the assumption has changed. Web content has become large because network bandwidth increasing and more and more large files like video¡Baudio and tail software, etc. coming in. We defined this web traffic is a data-intensive workload. In this study, we use a real and data-intensive web site to measure and compare these scheduling policies.

A modified impact factor for clustering of journals

An impact factor(IF) has been used extensively as a measure of the importance and impact of journals recently. The IF provided by the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) is calculated based on the most recent three years period. For example, the IF of 2003 for a journal is calculated; the number articles published in 2001 to 2002 cited in tracked journals during 2003 divided by the number of articles published in 2001 to 2002. In this work, we examine the different patterns of IF of journals in different fields as well as within the same field. We also provide a method of clustering journals according to the characteristics of the corresponding IF within the same field. Based on the experiences from analyzing the IF, we propose modified IFs from statistics point of view as possible new measures for the characteristics of different journals.

Cluster-Based Routing with Backup Route in Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

Effective routing is critical in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). In recent years, many hierarchical routing protocols have been proposed to build a backbone structure for supporting MANET routing, especially for large scalability. The clustering approach is seen as the first step in providing a flat network with a hierarchical architecture. The clusterheads become the backbone nodes (BNs), which use greater power to transmit packets, forming the backbone network. Backbone network routing can reduce the number of data-packet forwarding hops throughout the entire network. However, previous protocols have focused on clustering schemes. Fault tolerance in a backbone structure has not been considered. In this paper, we propose a backup routing scheme that can repair broken links locally without activating a route re-discovery procedure. The backup route is piggybacked in the data packet header to achieve the most durable route. The proposed method can improve the packet delivery ratio and reduce control overhead, compared to general hierarchical routing protocols.
